Avolites Ai Server Aids Sky TV’s Dance Show

LONDON – Avolites Media’s Ai server has been powering the fast-paced visuals for Sky TV’s spring series of “Got to Dance.” With the help of Ai, the visual team was able to see the entire TV studio as one giant canvas, using Ai’s ability to scale the outputs to compensate for the varying pixel pitches of the different LED fixtures. Ai is equipped to play back to video canvasses up to 8x HD1080 and this was a significant benefit to the production.

Christie Lites Adds to onPC Command Wing Inventory

LOS ANGELES – Christie Lites recently purchased more than 200 onPC command wings from MA Lighting to add to the lighting company’s rental inventory.  The onPC command wings extend usage of the grandMA2 control system to customers working on location or those who find it physically difficult to fit a full grandMA2 console at their venue. Christie Lites’ latest investment brings its total onPC command wing inventory past the 250 mark.

Mark Taper Forum Upgrades to Eos Titanium

LOS ANGELES – The Mark Taper Forum has been lit by an ETC Eos lighting system since the venue was a beta-test site for the board in 2007. Then this spring, the Forum’s chief electrician decided to purchase a Ti – becoming one of the first venues in the world to install the new desk. Their original Eos desk – still well loved – was transferred for use in the Ahmanson Theatre, another venue in the Center Theatre Group.

RIVA, Italy – The Spiaggia degli Olivi lighthouse, a historic monument on Lake Garda, was turned off about 40 years ago. Restoration work has turned on the light again – but instead of the complicated original 24-volt mechanism, there is a new Clay Paky Sharpy inside the lantern room, which is not only able to reproduce the brightness of the old lighthouse, but also its perfect movement.

USITT Presents LED Training with Chauvet

ATHENS, GA –  Bandit Lites had the privilege of being the first to light a concert at the University of Georgia’s Sanford Stadium, where Jason Aldean played to more than 60,000 people. The 90-minute set was filmed for a DVD release, requiring additional lighting to his concert rig, including 88 Sharpys, 20 Syncrolite fixtures, 34 x VL 3500 washes, 20 MAC Auras and 24 Bandit 5x5s.

Electrosonic Supplies Cleveland’s Eaton Experience Center

CLEVELAND – Electrosonic was charged with designing the AV systems, media control and power management for Cleveland’s Eaton Experience Center, which combines art and information. The centerpiece of the atrium is a five-story chandelier comprised of Traxon custom Mesh RGB LED wrapped into a cylinder 53 feet tall by 12 feet in diameter. The LED mesh combines a woven stainless steel mesh grid with individually-addressable LEDs to form a canvas for vivid, large-scale media. The chandelier can display specific media on a predetermined timeline or media for a particular show via a Medialon show controller.
