WEST SUSSEX, UK – Creative Technology (CT) set the scene for the backdrop to The Voice, which premiered March 24 on the BBC. Alongside production designer Julian Healy,  CT had a three day time frame to rig the LED screens as backdrops and floor covering. The main set screen was comprised of 30 sq. meters of Chromatek Black Faced 6mm LED screen. Beneath the artists’ feet is another 30 sq. meters of Flyer 12mm display to provide graphics and media content to further intensity the set design.

Judge Tells Sugarland to Answer Delay-of-Cancellation Questions by April 15

INDIANAPOLIS — Mid-America Sound Corporation, owner of the staging structure that fell in high winds at the Indianapolis State Fair, has been seeking testimony from Sugarland band members and its management on whether they resisted attempts to cancel their Aug. 13, 2011 show, despite the bad weather. A judge ruled March 23 that band member Jennifer Nettles will need to testify no later than April 15, according to published reports.

Webster will be responsible for sales and customer development for American DJ Lighting and American Audio products in his territory. Previously, Webster was a technical sales specialist with Motorola United Kingdom for seven years.

BURBANK, CA – SHS Global has opened an office here to service the West Coast of the U.S., Latin America, Asia and the Pacific Rim. Staffing the company’s fourth location is SHS co-owner Leigh-Anne Aiken, new sales rep Alberto Juarez and other support personnel. SHS’ other locations are in Austin, TX, New York and Brussels, Belgium.

Mayoral Inauguration Elects 4Wall NY for Event Gear

PHILADELPHIA – When tasked with lighting the 192nd Mayoral Inauguration for Michael Nutter, Executive Producer Scott Mirkin and Lighting Designer Scott Clyve elected to use equipment provided by 4Wall Entertainment in New York. The space was a 37,500 square foot lobby of the Pennsylvania Convention Center where house lighting was not an option. Adding to the challenge, Clyve, Lagler and Producer Scott Mirkin were expected to create a multi-functional stage design to support dance and live musical performances.

Kreon Appoints Darin Fowler as GM North American HQ

NEW YORK – Belgium-based architectural lighting manufacturer Kreon Inc, appoints Darin Fowler as General Manager of North American operations. Fowler, headquartered in New York City, will oversee all sales, customer service and marketing in the US and Canada. Fowler most recently was Regional Sales Manager at High End Systems, specializing in lighting for fixed installations. Before that, he was Senior Designer/Project Manager for NY-based Schwinghammer Lighting and also Johnson Light Studio, with his career start at Focus Lighting.

OSRAM Ostar Stage LEDs

SUNNYVALE, CA – New OSRAM Ostar Stage LEDs have a flatter profile, a narrow beam angle and higher luminance than before. They are now only 1.23 mm high – one-quarter of the usual height – enabling a much more compact spotlight design. The glass cover on the new LEDs has been optimized for injection of the light into lens systems. The LEDs can be used in spotlights of any size, from small stage spotlights to large moving head luminaires.
