NEW YORK – MB Productions, in association with Event Resources, helped celebrate Cartoon Network’s 20 Anniversary at their 2012 Upfront. The audience of advertisers at Roseland Ballroom got to get a sneak peak at not only the new programs and returning favorites, but also some first-hand experience of how cartoons are choreographed with live orchestras. ‘Mind Meld’ Maps Hotel at Ultra Music Fest
MIAMI – The Miami Intercontinental Hotel was transformed into a swirling mix of video projections during Miami’s ULTRA Music Festival March 23-25. Integrated Visions Productions teamed with technical producer SenovvA to produce the massive “Red Bull Mind Meld” video-mapping installation, which covered 29 floors (264 ft. high) of the hotel from sundown to midnight during the three nights of the fest.

BERGAMO, ITALY – The historic stage of the foremost Russian theatre has reopened after six years of renovation and restoration. Clay Paky’s Russian distributor DOKA played a key role in renovating the Bolshoi Theatre starting in 2005. Much of the equipment installed was manufactured by Clay Paky, featuring more than 350 moving heads, projectors and color changers, as spec’d by the Bolshoi’s chief LD, Damir Ismagilov.

SYRACUSE, NY – J.R. Clancy was honored at USITT’s 2012 Annual Conference with the USITT Award for a lifetime of contributions to the performing arts. J.R. Clancy President Mike Murphy accepted the award on behalf of the company, which has been a USITT member since 1962. Most recently, J.R. Clancy funded an initiative to inspect rigging systems in secondary schools, to ensure that students are learning in a safe environment.

Designing Brad Pitt’s ‘A Night to Make It Right’
NEW ORLEANS – Stefan Beese of RE:BE Design was Production Designer for Brad Pitt’s “A Night to Make It Right” gala in New Orleans. The event raised funds for Make It Right’s goal of building homes in the Lower 9th Ward. The stage design included angular overlapping lines of the newly built Make It Right houses and the culturally significant concept of the traditional NOLA “Front Porch.” Both would tie together the three staging areas for Sheryl Crow and Rihanna, space for Ellen Degeneres’ interviews with Brad Pitt and MIR family members, and the gala host.

MIDDLETON, WI – ETC announced at USITT 2012 the winners of their “Show Us Your ETC” student-video competition. Juniata College in Huntingdon, PA took first prize, which gives them first pick of either an ETC Eos, Ion or Element lighting-control console. LD/ author Richard Pilbrow was one of ETC’s three video judges.
