ORLANDO — PLSN is gearing up with live coverage of the LDI show, with exhibits open from Oct. 28-30. PLSN editor Justin Lang and PLSN’s Student Reporter, Kent Laue, sponsored by Chauvet, will report on the show via PLSN’s social networking site, ProLightingSpace.com and through PLSN’s twitter account, @PLSNMagazine. Throughout the show, Lang and Laue will be posting quick updates, photos and videos about news and product announcements as they happen. Chauvet’s Épix is a series of pixel mapping LED fixtures run by ArKaos Kling-Net protocol. Épix Bar and Épix Strip feature tri-colored SMD LEDs set at a pixel pitch of 25 millimeters. Épix Bar has 160 SMD LEDs and is self-contained with built-in operating features, while Épix Strip incorporates 40 SMD LEDs and uses Épix Drive 640—a separate controller which operates up to 16 Épix Strip fixtures. The Kling-Net protocol automatically configures real-time video data, removing the complexity of setting up standard LED displays and speeding the process. The protocol is designed to be easy to use directly from a computer, eliminating the need for video hardware converters.

Parnelli Awards Online Registration Closing; PLSN Prepares for Orlando

ORLANDO — Online registration for the 2011 Parnelli Awards is still open, but it closes tomorrow, Tuesday, Oct. 25. The awards dinner set for Oct. 29 at the Peabody Orlando is expected to draw close to 600 and features hosts Flo & Eddie of Turtles fame along with honorees Ed Wannebo (Lifetime Achievement), Jim Fackert (Parnelli Visionary) and Kenton Forsythe (Audio Innovator).
