Dolly Parton’s Pirates Voyage Attraction Relies on Rigging from J.R. Clancy

MYRTLE BEACH, SC – J.R. Clancy rigging products were used for Dolly Parton’s Pirates Voyage, an attraction featuring two life-sized pirate ships. There are 11 custom-built, variable speed drum hoists in the building, which had been used for Parton’s Dixie Stampede dinner theater from 1992 to 2010. J.R. Clancy’s Altus controller controls the hoists. Each has a 750-pound capacity and a top speed of 416 feet per minute.

He had a long career as lighting designer with Martha Graham Dance Company (1986-1992), Pascal Rioult Dance Theatre, Stars on Ice and for 15 years with Disson Skating. He received a Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lighting Direction (2001-2002) for his work on the Brian Boitano Skating Spectacular. His last lighting design production, Fashion on Ice, airs Nov. 13, 2011 on NBC.
