LONDON, UK – Goboland has made a variety of custom and standard gobos for the wartime-era musical Betty Blue Eyes which opened last week at the Novello Theatre in London’s West End. Based on Alan Bennett and Malcolm Mowbray’s BAFTA-winning 1984 film A Private Function, Betty Blue Eyes is set in the ration-stricken Britain of 1947. It tells the story of a pig, raised illegally to provide the local dignitaries with a feast to celebrate the wedding of Princess Elizabeth and Prince Philip – a wedding feast out of keeping with the austerity of the times.

Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design

MISSOULA, MT – The final brick has been placed, and the doors have been closed on the container carrying the USITT/USA exhibits which will be part of the Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space from June 16 to 26 in Prague, Czech Republic. A team of faculty and students at the University of Montana in Missoula constructed the exhibits which will be part of PQ 2011, along with displays from more than 60 other countries and regions. Curators selected 37 productions for the USITT-USA National Exhibit. They reflect the social and political issues consuming American performance-makers today.
