Lighting Designer Ben Cracknell, lighting the Olivier Awards for his 11th year, chose 78 Ayrton Perseo Profile fixtures, provided by White Light, as his work horse fixtures. He wanted to modernize and unify under one fixture type his previously mixed rig, so he took advantage of White Light’s generous stock of Perseo Profiles, having enjoyed using them on previous designs.

Over 500 Guests Celebrate Light, Learning, and Good Times at LTT Workshop

 The numbers speak for themselves.  Over 5,700 kilometers traveled, 14 cities visited, 500 visitors participating, and 222 very large mouthwatering pizzas ordered.  They paint an impressive picture of the 2024 LTT Free Lighting Workshops. As remarkable as they are, however, these figures tell only part of the story. Of more lasting value are the knowledge gained, connections formed, and new horizons explored at this series of dynamic events.

The Story Behind the “No Brown M&Ms” Legend

Many in our industry have heard the legend of Van Halen’s tour rider with the “No Brown M&Ms”. Some know it well and know its origins, but many do not. Tom Kenny Uses Elation Indoors and Out at 2024 CMT Music Awards

Lighting Designer Tom Kenny utilized Elation lighting for both the indoor and outdoor stages at the 2024 CMT Music Awards earlier this spring. The lighting package, supplied by 4Wall, included PROTEUS EXCALIBUR, ARTISTE MONDRIAN, and DARTZ 360 luminaires, among other fixtures. Broadcast live from the Moody Center on the University of Texas campus in Austin, performances took place inside and on an outdoor stage in front of the iconic University of Texas Tower. Lighting direction for the indoor show was by Felix Peralta, David “Fuji” Convertino, and Michelle Griesmer, with Han Henze and Matt Piercy handling lighting direction on the outdoor stage. The SMA Announces 2024 The Del Hughes Awards

The Stage Managers’ Association has announced its annual Del Hughes Awards for Lifetime Achievement in the Art of Stage Management. The 2024 honorees are Lloyd Davis, Jr., Ed De Shae, and Denise Yaney. In addition, the SMA will honor Mary Hunter with The Founders Award and this year’s Special Recognition Award will shine the spotlight on David J. McGraw and The Stage Manager Survey.

The architectural design of the Insomniac Events Electric Daisy Festival’s bassPOD stage is impressive by any measure. But there is more than size to this stunning structure designed by STUFISH Entertainment Architects. With its shapes and forms extending in every direction, and at multiple levels, it presents a labyrinth of possibilities. Erik Mahowald, of Bending Lite Productions, was tasked with making it come alive and accenting all its compelling power with light.
