PR Lighting’s Butterfly 2 is an LED effect moving head fixture with eleven independently controlled or grouped LED engines all in one unit. Designed for colorful and dazzling visual effects, the fixture is designed for use at concerts, within clubs or any setting that requires precise movement. The fixture features five RGBW beams with tilt control that surround a fixed 3.5-degree beam at the center. The tilt control allows for a flapping butterfly effect. There are also five white LED clusters that can be individually controlled or can work together to create either a white blinder strobe or random strobing effect.

Popping It Up for Polish Idol

POLAND – The recent edition of Polish Idol featured a distinctive filmic styling emanating from the visual influence of LD Artur Szyman, one of the country’s leading lighting and scenic designers, who was assisted by 96 Robe Spikies and 80 x LEDWash 800s among other lights on his plot. Artur has been an LD for 17 years and was a renowned film and TV DoP for 10 years before that. He’s known for taking creative risks and delivering new and invigorating designs, and for this show – returning to Polish national TV prime time after a 13 year break – his mission was to ensure that the lighting and scenography worked consistently from all camera perspectives.

Canada Day 2017 – 150TH Anniversary gets Creative with Luz Studio

OTTAWA, CA – On July 1st, Canada celebrated its 150th birthday on Parliament Hill in Ottawa. Activities on the hill took places all day and ended up with a big show at night, hosted by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, the first lady, Sophie Grégoire-Trudeau and the minister of Canadian Heritage, Mélanie Joly. The bill of the day included ceremonial segments, band performances and production numbers made especially for the day. Canadians had the honor of the presence of the Prince of Wales and his wife, the Duchess of Cornwall and the Governor General of Canada, David Johnston who came to commemorate the Canadian Confederation.

In Memoriam: John Reed, 62

INDIANAPOLIS – John Reed, owner of Indianapolis-based Stage Tech, Inc. died July 4, 2017 after a short illness. He was 62. Reed, who had served as a lighting director on tours for Frankie Valli and others, founded Stage Tech in 1975 as a lighting and staging company and later moved into audio production for big events including the Indianapolis 500 (pictured here).
