Granger Smith Tours With Shapeshifters
AUSTIN – Country artist Granger Smith’s 2016 touring exposed the rising artist to even larger audiences, and featured a unique lighting design by Sean Semler that included 12 High End Systems SHAPESHIFTER C1s. Lured away from another artist, Sean says “Granger’s live performance and overall attitude was just infectious to me – and here I am today.” Semler also spec’d a HOG 4 for this tour and says he instantly fell in love with it.

Jan. 1 Nightclub Shooting in Turkey: 39 Killed, 65 Injured
ISTANBUL — Authorities in Turkey are still searching for a gunman who fired 180 bullets from an AK 47, killing 39 and wounding 65 people celebrating New Year’s Eve at the Reina nightclub in Istanbul, Turkey. The Islamic State later claimed responsibility for the attack. About 600 people were in the club at the time of the seven-minute attack, according to reports. Witnesses reported that the gunman shouted “Allahu akbar” while firing his weapon inside the venue after killing a police officer and bystander outside. He then left his weapon, changed clothes and exited the back door, blending into the crowd.

Pierce The Veil Shows in U.K., Ireland Get Avolites Assist
U.K. and IRELAND — Lighting designer Jeff Maker employed an Avolites Sapphire Touch to drive his design for Californian pop-punk quartet Pierce the Veil’s U.K. and Ireland tour. The shows followed the release of the band’s fourth album, Misadventures. Maker, a longtime user of Avolites products, credited the Sapphire Touch console he used to light the set, which depicted rocket ship pieces after a crash landing.
