Hometown Hero Voting Enters Final Stretch, Parnelli Nominations Begin!

LAS VEGAS — When one door closes, another opens. But for the first week in August, PLSN and FOH readers will have one last opportunity to vote for their favorite Hometown Hero lighting companies AND nominate other companies, individuals and products for a 2016 Parnelli Award. That’s right, even though the voting for the Hometown Hero Awards won’t slam shut until Aug. 8, the door for Parnelli Awards nominations is now wide open, until Aug. 24. And if you haven’t done so, you can also nominate a product for an Indispensable Technologies “IT” Award this month as well.

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – For this year’s Miss Florida USA pageant, which selects the young lady who will represent the state in the next Miss USA competition, Abbas Ritscher of The Design Oasis and lighting designer Charles Brennan lit those competing for the coveted crown within 1,167-seat Parker Playhouse with a rig that included ten Rogue R1 FX-B fixtures from Chauvet Professional.

LA BS to Distribute GLP Products in France

PARIS – French wholesaler LA BS, who has been supplying professionals and end users for 25 years, has signed an exclusive distribution partnership with GLP for its lighting fixture solutions in France. With more than 45 employees, LA BS will now distribute the complete impression series range for GLP. Italian Rock Concert Performed by 1,200 Musicians Lit with DTS Fixtures

CESENA, Italy – A band comprised of 1,200 musicians performed before a sold-out audience of 13,000 for a unique event, “Rockin’1000 – That’s Live.” The massive concert was staged on the lawn of the Manuzzi stadium in Cesena, Italy in late July.  LD Claudio Tappi used more than 400 DTS moving lights for this mega rock event. AMG International supplied the DTS fixtures for the gig.

Biamp Systems Opens New Building Near HQ in Oregon

BEAVERTON, OR — Biamp Systems held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for their new Cascade Building in Tigard, OR on July 27. The Cascade Building, which is home to Biamp’s manufacturing and customer support teams, joins the Gemini Building and together serve as the company’s headquarters. Although based in a different town, the two buildings are less than one mile apart. Tigard’s Mayor John L. Cook (pictured here) and others were on hand to weild the big scissors and make the buiding’s grand opening official.

EDM Festival in Former German Steel Plant Lit with PR Lighting BWS Fixtures

VOLKLINGEN, Germany —Focon Showtechnic, the German distributors for PR Lighting, noted that the Chinese manufacturer’s products were used at the Electro-Magnetic EDM festival in Völklingen, which drew close to 10,000 to the Völklinger Hütte on July 16. The Völklinger Hütte, a former steel plant and world cultural heritage site, was visually transformed for a lineup that included Robin Schulz, Alle Farben, Chopstick & Johnjon, Moguai, Richie Hawtin, and others.
