Greenfield Festival in Switzerland Includes 150+ Clay Paky Fixtures

INTERLAKEN, Switzerland – For the annual Greenfield rock festival, LD Nico Müller of technical supplier Go Audio used more than 150 Clay Paky fixtures. The Main Stage was equipped with 39 Alpha Wash 1200 fixtures, 36 Mythos and 18 Stormy CC strobes. Müller’s rig design for Greenfield’s smaller stages included 18 A.leda B-EYE K10, 18 Mythos, 16 Alpha Spot 800 QWO and eight Stormy CCs. The festival, which ran from June 8-11, welcomed more than 40 international rock, punk and metalcore bands including Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Prodigy, Dropkick Murphys and Bullet For My Valentine (BFMV). More than 100,000 people from across Europe attended the four -day event.

The production team at Faith Community Church in Red Oak, Iowa, had a host of challenges in modernizing their worship space. Their old PARs and dimmer system just weren’t shining the light where they needed it. Seeking guidance, church tech Jonathan Showalter consulted with dealer/integrator CCI Solutions, which has worked with the church since 2003 on their sound, lighting and video systems. The answer—from CCI’s Dale Erickson—came in the form of 30 elektraLite eyeBall LED fixtures.

KANSAS CITY: Crush Music, the full service music company, came up with the idea of co-headlining two of their artists on a North American summer shed tour with Weezer and Panic! At The Disco. The tour started in Houston,TX on June 10th and will conclude in Irvine, CA on Aug 6th having played to a crowd of half a million people throughout the summer. Luz Studio’s Matthieu Larivée worked in conjunction with Weezer’s LD, Robb Jibbson, to design the touring production package.

After its ‘Jesus Dome’ Burns, 12 Clay Paky Mythos Fixtures Light the Skies above Durban Christian Center’s Parking Lot

DURBAN, South Africa  – A massive fire destroyed the Durban Christian Centre’s 5,500-capacity Jesus Dome auditorium in the city’s Mayville neighborhood on the night of June 8. No one was injured in the blaze, but the structure, first dedicated in 1999, was a total loss. Three days later, the sky above the destroyed church’s parking lot lit up with beams from 12 Clay Paky Mythos fixtures, all pointed towards a star, as the congregation met together for a service. LD Michael Broderick and Brandon Bunyan of Black Coffee donated the idea and the use of the gear.  Going forward, the megachurch will hold services using a large tent until the Jesus Dome can be rebuilt.

Najafi Design Uses Chauvet Professional, Chauvet DJ and Iluminarc Fixtures for Al’s Beach Club Installation in Florida

FORT WALTON BEACH, FL – For a project at Al’s Beach Club and Burger Bar, located on the boardwalk along Fort Walton Beach, Sohail e. Najafi and his team at Najafi Design Group (Los Angeles, Las Vegas) installed linear and panel LED fixtures from Chauvet’s Iluminarc Colorist line. These included 30 Colorist 12Qa linear and 26 Colorist 6Qa linear units (both of which are RGBA) and two Colorist Panel 8Qa fixtures. Also included in the rig are 22 COLORado 2-Quad Zoom IP, three COLORado 1-Tri IP and four Q-Wash 260-LED fixtures, as well as two Vesuvio RGBA LED foggers from Chauvet Professional, plus four Intimidator Wave 360 IRC four-headed moving fixtures from Chauvet DJ.

STOCKHOLM, Sweden – The Mall of Scandinavia near the center of Stockholm features DEX, a ceiling-mounted, 65-meter-long light sculpture made from 3,800 LED strips. Each of the LED strips has 64 individually controllable pixels. London-based video architecture firm BAJT created the volumetric content for DEX using d3’s creative suite, the Notch realtime 3D engine and Autodesk 3ds Max 3D animation software.

MANSFIELD, MA For Boston-based radio station Kiss 108’s summer concert, staged June 18 at Xfinity Center, East Coast Lighting & Production Services, Inc. (ECLPS) provided Elation Professional’s EPT6IP LED video panels. The screens gave the crowds a closer look at performances by a lineup that included Halsey, Flo Rida, Charlie Puth, The Chainsmokers, Iggy Azalea and Nelly, and they were also used to feature a variety of custom content. ECLPS supplied all of the lighting and video products for the annual summer event.

PERTH, Australia – The APIA Good Times Tour, featuring Daryl Braithwaite, Kate Ceberano, Jon Stevens and John Paul Young, has recently completed its 16-date tour of duty, including a stop in the Perth Concert Hall. With Perth being one of the three ‘orphaned’ shows without toured production, tour lighting designer Rohan Thornton was on the phone to local rental house Concert and Corporate Productions to source a rig for the show to supplement the Concert Halls’ simple house system.
