AUSTIN, TX — Although it has rarely been praised before for its aesthetic appeal, the abandoned Austin Downtown Post Office generated more than a few double-takes after Bryan Azar and designers Adam Crankshaw and Alex Soto of ILIOS Lighting Design used 300 ÉPIX Strip 2.0 units with domes to add visual interest for the Samsung Galaxy Life Fest, which took place during SXSW 2016. Most of the 1-meter strips were mounted on the ceiling to form a chevron pattern over the dance floor. The remaining strips were used to created lines and borders around the on-stage truss lines.

Avolites Controls Fast-Paced Rave Lighting for Cream Tours at T13 Warehouse

BELFAST, Northern Ireland — More than 3,500 revelers partied ’til the small hours at for the legendary dance event Cream Tours at Belfast’s T13 warehouse on Saturday, April 30. Event promoter Notorious Parties welcomed the return of the iconic night with its cast of DJing elite including; dance music giant John O’Callaghan, Bryan Kearney, Will Atkinson, Standerwick, Agnelli and Nelson and Anthony Probyn. Event lighting designer John McGuinness of Just Lite Productions looked after the lighting for the event. The control setup included Avolites’ Sapphire Touch, Tiger Touch II and Fader Wing, Quartz, Ai Infinity media server and ART2000 48″ Dimmer racks.

Jaguars Select Nanolumens For New Video Installation

GHENT, Belgium — Arf & Yes provided the design for the Voice van Vlaanderan (Voice of Flanders), which was staged in Hall 8 of the Ghent Expo center with a live audience of 3,000. Led owner and founder, Ignace D’Haese, the Arf & Yes design team provided stage, set, lighting and video. LAS VEGAS — No fatalities had been reported immediately after this year’s Electric Daisy Carnival festival held at Las Vegas Motor Speedway June 17-19. But one attendee who collapsed from suspected heat stroke at about 6 a.m. after the event’s third night of revelry was hospitalized and did not recover. Kenani Kaimuloa, 20, from the San Diego area, was declared brain-dead and taken off life support.
