We’re Talking BIG This Month

Hello readers, this month the word “BIG” springs to mind when I think of this issue. It seems that every week, we here at PLSN get a new piece of news across our desk that utters the word’s “Largest” or “Biggest Ever” in the headline.
Of course, this draws my eye every time to see what they are announcing. Half the time it’s a con job, 25 percent of the time the writer actually thought they were really the biggest, and well — sometimes it actually is.

John McKernon and City Theatrical have announced that Lightwright 6, the newest version of software for managing entertainment lighting paperwork, will be released in April 2016. Lightwright 6 will be launched at USITT 2016 on March 17-19th in Salt Lake City. John McKernon will be on hand all three days to demonstrate the new features and to speak with present and future Lightwright users.

Germany’s Contour Event Services Adds Clay Paky Show Battens to Inventory

FRANKFURT, Germany – Contour Veranstaltungsservice GmbH (Event Services) expanded its inventory with a new purchase 30 Clay Paky 100 Show Batten AS units last year. The company supported the visual needs at Wirtschaftstag 2015, an annual business forum that takes place at the Frankfurter Jahrhunderthalle, a convention center in Frankfurt, providing the newly purchased AS units along with 14 Show Batten 100s for that event.

Frank Turner Tour Rig Includes Clay Paky Clay Paky Mythos Fixtures

OTTAWA, Canada – Folk-punk singer-songwriter Frank Turner is on a world tour in support of his latest album ‘Positive Songs for Negative People’ with a punchy rock and roll lighting design by Shaun Moore using 30 Clay Paky Mythos fixtures. Moore of Nitelites, who has worked with Frank and his backing band The Sleeping Souls since 2010, is using the high advanced beam and spot hybrid for large backlight gobo looks and dynamic aerial work. Nitelites is providing the gear.
