ETCP Notes High Rate of Credential Holders Opting for Renewal

NEW YORK – ETCP noted a high renewal rate for its original certificants. A decade ago, more than 200 riggers from North America gained their ETCP Certifications at LDI in Orlando, FL. Last November, 90 percent of that inaugural class opted to renew their certifications as the term of their second 5-year renewal was due to expire. Most of those who chose not to renew their certifications have retired from the industry.

LONDON – The European premiere for Star Wars: The Force Awakens took place in London on Dec. 26. 2015. with Utopium lit up Nelson’s Column, a monument in Trafalgar Square, during the red carpet event. Utopium provided 24 Clay Paky Mythos, three MDG One atmosphere machines, four Studio Due City-color LED’s and two Studio Due City-beams.

LONDON – Lighting and visuals rental company HSL supplied lighting kit — over 300 fixtures – and crew to the UK arena leg of big beat hard-dance electro rockers Prodigy’s “The Day is My Enemy” tour, working in close collaboration with lighting and show designer Andy Hurst, and also with live video specialists Video Illusions who supplied cameras and LED screens.

Duck Lights Turns to 4Wall LA for Halsey’s ‘Badlands’ Tour Rig

LOS ANGELES — Owner Lee Duck and technical director Adam De Witt of Duck Lights have been using 4Wall-supplied gear to meet the expanded production needs for Halsey’s Badlands tour. The rig including Ayrton MagicBlades, Martin MAC Viper Profiles and TMB Solaris Flare Juniors for the tour, in support of Halsey’s Aug. 2015 album release, Badlands. Duck and De Witt, who is serving as LD, have been lighting Halsey since 2014.

VASTERAS, Sweden — The National Property Board of Sweden and the Municipality of Västerås turned to ÅF Lighting for an assist with the illumination of Västerås Castle for their annual “Västerås Culture Night” so it could serve as a fitting backdrop for concert performances. ÅF Lighting, in turn, relied upon Harman’s Martin Exterior 400 Image Projector for dynamic gobo projections to complement the outdoor lighting design.
