LONDON — American R&B trio, TGT, played London’s iconic Eventim Apollo (formerly the Hammersmith Apollo) on March 27 as part of their “Shirts Off” tour. The rig included Elation’s Platinum Series and other Elation fixtures supplied by English rental company MusicMann. Handling production on the London show was Steve “Shaggy” Wright, lighting, video, and production pro at MusicMann.

STOCKHOLM, Sweden — Stageroom, a technical installation and rental company based here, has been acquired by the Espoo, Finland-based Bright Group, a major entertainment technology services company serving the Nordic region. Stageroom will continue to operate as a separate company and becomes affiliated with Starlight and Lagom & Gott in Sweden, two other companies acquired by the Bright Group.

DURBAN, South Africa — The 2014 Metro FM Awards, which served as a celebration of 20 years of democracy while also bestowing 19 awards recognizing excellence in the urban genre of music, Johannesburg based Dream Sets provided a lighting design that included Robe fixtures in the rig. The event was staged at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli Conference Centre here in March, and along with the 19 Awards, it included eight live performers. It was broadcast live on the South African Broadcasting Corporations’ SABC 1 TV channel.

MOSCOW — Martin’s MAC Quantum Wash LED fixtures debuted at an event at the Arena Moscow Club here that celebrated 20 years of Internet usage in Russia. Specialists from Laser-Kinetics, together with Lighting Designer Alexander Bel’kov and the production company, Art Koleso, made the light show a visual focal point and included 37 MAC Quantum Wash fixtures in the rig.

Circus “Hair Hang” Apparatus Fails, Nine Performers Hospitalized
PROVIDENCE, RI — A Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus aerial act was disrupted at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center here May 4 as the apparatus for the all-female “hair hang act” failed. About 20 were injured, including eight performers who fell from a 30-foot height. All eight sustained serious injuries. A ninth performer on the ground also sustained serious injury.
