CHICAGO — For Drake’s “Would You Like a Tour” production, which supports his album Nothing Was the Same, Strictly FX provided lasers, pyrotechnics, cryo and smoke effects to complement the looks generated by LD Guy Pavelo. On the road with Drake are pyro designer/pyro operator Reid Nofsinger, cryo technician Jon Taylor, cryo/laser technician Matt Luciano and laser operator Nick Curry.

Rudimental Tours with Support from Colour Sound Experiment

LONDON — LD Jonny Gaskell relied on lighting gear supplied by Colour Sound Experiment to support the visuals for Rudimental’s U.K. tour. The adaptable rig started with 16 Robe LEDWash 600s, four strobes, ten 2-lite blinders and seven Color Force 72 battens to highlight the backdrop along with eight half mirror-balls. Colour Sound beefed up the initial rig for a show at Brixton Academy, adding 12 Clay Paky Sharpys, 30 Clay Paky Alpha Spot 1500s, 36 additional Robe LEDWash 600s, 10 Atomic strobes, 22 2-lite Moles and ETC Source Fours along with six Novalight Nova-Flowers.

MUSE, New Science Museum, Gets Artistic Lighting Touch

TRENTO, Italy — MUSE, a new science museum that opened here in late July, might have science as its focal point, but it isn’t blind to aesthetics. The well-known architect Renzo Piano designed the building, and the 24-hour grand opening featured an additional artistic touch from lighting and show designer Mariano De Tassis, who relied upon Clay Paky gear. Maffei Service, the company that dealt with setting up the sound, lighting and video equipment, provided 56 Clay Paky moving heads, including Alpha Profiles and Sharpys.

Cape Town’s Artscape Adds Martin Lighting Fixtures

CAPE TOWN, South Africa — Artscape, a performing arts center with a 1,487-seat Opera House, 540-seat theatrical auditorium and 140-seat Arena theatre, underwent a lighting upgrade in 2012 that included additional Martin lighting fixtures. Working with Electrosonic SA’s Robbi Nassi, Artscape’s Nicholas Tilney added 24 Martin MAC III fixtures and 24 MAC 700s.

For Honda Civic Tour, Maroon 5 Visuals Relied on Avolites Media Ai Infinity Servers

LOS ANGELES — For their co-headlining slot alongside Kelly Clarkson on the 12th annual Honda Civic Tour earlier this year, Maroon 5 performed in venues across the U.S. and Canada with a visual assist from two customized Avolites Media Ai Infinity servers. The servers had six HDSDI inputs and four DVI outputs for HD camera feeds and LED screen visuals. The tour ran from Aug. 1 to Oct. 6, 2013.
