Lighting Up the Laughs with The Mighty Boosh

LONDON — Lighting designer Arturo Ollandini is using Robe ColorSpot and ColorWash 2500 moving lights supplied by Sonalyst in his design for comedy duo, The Mighty Boosh, currently on tour in the U.K. The show, produced by Phil McIntyre Entertainments, is a mix of comedy and music with the lighting requirements of a theatrical rock ‘n’ roll tour.

PR Lighting Washes Ukrainian Landmarks in Color

PR Lighting Mega Colour 2500

The Mega Colour 2500 works as a moving head and outdoor color wash, and it can be used indoors and out. Along with IP44 weather resistance, the fixture features a split design for the head and power chassis, a patented reflector, a linear CYM color mixing system, standard, programmable DMX 512 control, master/slave mode and stand-alone mode. Made with an aluminum alloy chassis and ABS and composite plastics, the fixture has a Philips MSA 2500 DE lamp with 5600°color temperature. The head offers movement of 400° pan and 160° tilt, adjustable speed and automatic pan/tilt position correction and a beam angle of 60° x 45°. There is also a fixture and lamp usage time display, adjustable brightness and contrast for the LCD display and an overheating protection device.

In Memoriam: Robert Ornbo, Craig Redden

Robert Ornbo, one of the world’s most prolific and celebrated lighting designers, with over 300 productions to his credit, died Nov. 19 at the age of 77.  Craig Redden, vice president concert touring for Epic Production Technologies, died Nov. 20 from an apparent massive heart attack while visiting Los Angeles.

Tina Turner Video Wall Splits and Shines

NEWARK, NJ — With at least 80 shows scheduled for her first tour in eight years, Tina Turner is proving that she still has legs. But at age 67, the only thing doing a split is the video screen backdrop. LD Baz Halpin hides 80 Clay Paky Alpha Beam 300 fixtures behind the motion-controlled video wall, which separates into a total of eight sections, allowing the Alpha Beams to shine through.
