Read More »EUROPE – In the summer, German industrial metal band, Rammstein, once again embraced a number of European festival stages with their impressive live show. The two lighting directors of the tour, Bertil Mark and Faren Matern, used a total of four TimeCore units from the Dutch manufacturer Visual Productions. The TimeCore is a modern timecode toolbox. The TimeCore is not just capable of generating timecode, it also follows, converts and displays timecode. It supports and converts between SMPTE, MTC and Art-Net timecode.

NORMAN, OK – Severe winds from a tornado-producing storm caused structural damage during a Beach Boys performance at the Riverwind Casino in Norman, OK on Oct. 22, cutting the show short. No one was injured in the incident, but the casino complex, which includes the 1,500-seat venue, sustained significant damage, allowing rainwater to rush inside.
Read More »SPAIN – Robert Juliat added some French flavor to the celebrated Spanish music festival at Cap Roig, Girona this summer. Produced by Clipper’s Live, Cap Roig Festival is one of the most recognized summer music festivals and takes place in a spectacular natural setting overlooking the Mediterranean. Local rental company, ABS Entertainment Service, ensured every performer looked like a star by supplying two Robert Juliat Merlin 2500W and two Robert Juliat Aramis 2500W followspots as front of house support for the duration of the two-week event.
USA – American rock pop band, OneRepublic, headlined this summer’s 34-date Honda Civic Tour of North America, with support from Fitz and the Tantrums, and James Arthur. Core to the strikingly impressive lighting design by Mark Butts, production and lighting designer at Los Angeles-based Preset Productions, are 103 Ayrton MagicPanel™-602 fixtures, supplied by global rental company VER. These help realize a unique design intent by Butts and co-production designer and show director, Raj Kapoor, whose aim was to start forging a signature ‘brand image’ for the band.
UK – CPL was delighted to return to the attractive leafy environs of Ragley Hall in Warwickshire to provide a full video production package for the Main Stage at the 2017 Camper Calling festival … a new event staged by Jazz Events, part of the Jazz Publishing Group. Building on the success of last year’s inaugural two day Camper Calling, this year the capacity was doubled from 3000 to 6000 and another day of fun and entertainment for all the family was added, making it three days, which allowed people to enjoy some rare and endangered glorious late August bank holiday weekend weather – apparently the hottest on record!

SAN ANTONIO – David Luis Rosas, LD for Tex-Mex band Grupo Siggno, used China-sourced PR Lighting and Mega-Lite fixtures for a show featuring the Tejano artists at 4,000-capacity Cowboys Dance Hall in San Antonio. Global Productions, owned by Adrian Gallegos and Daniel Martinez, supplied the fixtures distributed by Helotes, TX-based Mega Systems Inc. The rig included XLED 3007 fixtures, XLED 4022RZ fixtures and Phantom fixtures from PR Lighting along with Mega-Lite XBAR LED RGB Strobes and a Drama FZ-LED 700 followspot.
