DALLAS – Syncrolite LLC named Gregg Brooks as the company’s technical sales manager.  In his new position, Brooks will work with existing and new customers in all product groups at Syncrolite including the newly acquired Strong and SkyTracker lines. Brooks brings 23 years of professional experience as a lighting designer, production designer, programmer and stage technician.  His career has taken him all over the world, working for top designers on concert tours including Michael Jackson, The Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, Cher and many more.

University of Tennessee Event in Nashville Gets Bandit Lites Support

NASHVILLE – Some of the University of Tennessee’s top students, including Hannah Robison and Josh Dobbs, who are, respectively, Miss Tennessee and UT’s football team QB, arrived at Legislative Plaza in Nashville February 17 to meet with Tennessee legislators during the 10th Annual UT Day on the Hill. Bandit Lites provided Vari*Lite VL 2500s to cover the room with patterns and colors, while GRNLite LED Battens lit the upper balcony walls. ZR 44 smoke machines gave the senators and representatives a dramatic entrance. Additional lighting came from custom UT gobos shot with ETC 5 degree ellipsoidal, while the stage lighting and control was provided by the venue.

Eagles of Death Metal “Nos Amis” Tour in Europe Cut Short by Jesse Hughes’ Finger Injury

PARIS — The Eagles of Death Metal were able to return to Paris for a Feb. 16 concert performance at the Olympia music venue — free to survivors of the terrorist attack at the Bataclan on Nov. 13, 2015. But their 23-date “Nos Amis” tour of Europe, planned from Feb. 13 to early March, was cut short after singer and guitarist Jesse Hughes sustained a torn tendon in his finger.

The new QL Load Balancing, Failover and CDN modules, to be shown at Digital Signage Expo (March 16-17, Las Vegas Convention Center, Booth 2218), are intended for digital out-of-home networks comprised of 1000 or more Windows or Android media players. NEW CASTLE, PA – Pyrotecnico has invested in consoles from MA Lighting. The company took delivery of two dot2 core consoles with four dot2 F-wings. A.C.T Lighting, Inc. is the exclusive distributor of MA Lighting products in North America. Pyrotecnico plans to use the dot2 cores for DMX-controlled flames, CO2 jets, confetti and streamers, and DMX-driven laser technology for upcoming shows.

PHILADELPHIA – For American rock band Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, which performed at the Fillmore in Philadelphia to ring in 2016, LD Jason Liggett used Elation Professional’s eMOTION moving head digital light. The eMOTION is Elation’s new plug and play DMX moving light with an on-board media server developed in cooperation with High End Systems. Utilizing only 32 DMX channels (54 in extended mode), it houses royalty-free digital art and videos with the ability to upload custom content.

Rivers Church Opts for Robe Rig in New Auditorium in South Africa

JOHANNESBURG – For the new 3,000 capacity auditorium at Rivers Church’s Sandton Campus in Johannesburg, South Africa, technical manager Ed Helliwell opted to install a Robe-centered rig. There are now 18 LEDWash 1200s, 10 Pointes, eight DL4S Profiles and eight miniPointes. They join  26 LEDBeam 100s purchased a few months earlier from Robe’s South African distributor, DWR.

Filmwerks Teams with ModTruss for Super Bowl 50 Broadcast Structures

SANTA CLARA, CA – At Super Bowl 50, there was no shortage of temporary broadcast studios and stage structures to accommodate all the sports media covering the big game. Filmwerks International, based in Rocky Point, NC, handled the design, construction, and power for many of the studios. Filmwerks used nearly 1,000 pieces of ModTruss to erect seven broadcast structures including multiple NFL Network Super Bowl structures in the Media Center, field location, and at the Super Bowl City main entrance. Filmwerks also built the CBS Sports’ Stadium location and provided additional support for the flying camera systems.
