Eurovision Song Contest Draws 180 Million Viewers

COPENHAGEN, Denmark — The Eurovision Song Contest, with semi-finals and finals staged at B&W Halls here May 6, 8 and 10, drew close to 180 million viewers by the time Austria’s Conchita Wurst was proclaimed the winner. PRG and Martin were official suppliers to the event. Other lighting manufacturers represented in the PRG-supplied rig included GLP, Clay Paky, Philips Vari-Lite and Showtec. SGM, Barco, Mediatec Solutions and d3 also issued news releases noting their support of the event’s visuals. (SGM provided the image of the event included here).

Alcorn McBride Names Brian Macauto Senior Sales Engineer

ORLANDO — Alcorn McBride named Brian Macauto senior sales engineer.  He was most recently regional sales manager (North America) for Vista Systems, where he handled outside sales, software/hardware training, system commissioning, trade show and technical support. At Alcorn McBride, Macauto will work with customers and provide pre-sales application support while also developing new project opportunities worldwid.

Avolites Names Fairlight BV Distributor in the Netherlands

UK/THE NETHERLANDS — Avolites Ltd. and Avolites Media Ltd. have named Fairlight as their sole distributor for the Netherlands. Toronto International Film Festival Partners with Christie Digital

TORONTO — Christie, which served as projection partner for the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival last September, noted that nearly all films are now screened digitally, with an increasing percentage seen in ultra-high res 4K format. Christie has been a festival partner for 14 years now. Information on the company’s 2014 sponsorship will be available starting in July.
