NASHVILLE — Casting Crowns production manager Carter Hassebroek and LD Chris Lighthall worked with Peter Streiff at a PixelFlex rental partner Elite Multimedia Productions (EMP) on a 24 by 32 foot (WxH) 20mm LED curtain display for the Christian band’s Thrive tour.  The six-by-four panel display (WxH) uses custom rigging hardware to extend the panels’ upward reach.

HASSELT, Belgium — For the new 3,000-capacity location for Versuz, a nightclub that draws revelers from Belgium, The Netherlands and beyond with resident DJ Laurent Wery, Robe distributor Controllux provided 38 Pointes, 30 MMX WashBeams, 24 LEDWash 300s, eight LEDWash 600s, eight 600E Spots, four DLXs and 30 ClubScan 250s. Most of them are in the main room, one of three spaces at the club, which features 11 meters (36 feet) of headroom.

In Memoriam: Paul Marin, 31

SYDNEY — Paul Marin, 31, whose design work at dance clubs and stages included lighting and laser effects along with set design, died Feb. 14 from Glioblastoma Multiforme, a form of brain cancer. He had been fighting the disease since it was diagnosed last September. Marin had provided the lighting design for events around the world, including Peter Rauhofer’s WORK! party at Roseland Ballroom in New York City, the Circuit Festival in Barcelona, Spain, various gCircuit events, the Sidney Mardi Gras and many more.

The Rolling Stones Postpone Australia/New Zealand Shows

NEW YORK — The Rolling Stones postponed seven shows in Australia and New Zealand and flew back to New York after the sudden death of L’Wren Scott, Mick Jagger’s longtime girlfriend, on March 17. The shows had been set to run from March 19 to April 5. The band’s 2014 “14 on Fire” tour, a follow-up to 2013’s “50 and Counting,” pictured here, began in late February with shows in the Middle East and Asia. The tour is set to resume in Europe in late May.
