Read More »NEW YORK — Imero “Immie” Fiorentino, a pioneering LD in the early days of television who worked for ABC before founding Imero Fiorentino Associates (IFA) in 1960, died Oct. 1. He was 85. In a career that extended from student theatrical productions in the 1930s and 1940s to the dawn of television in 1950, then on toward major productions including political conventions and Presidential debates involving every U.S. President since Eisenhower, Fiorentino’s success came despite a high school injury that left him blind in one eye.

Read More »JOHANNESBURG — LD Declan Randall opted to use an Eos console for the South African debut of Starlight Express at the Joburg Theatre Complex here. The setup includes an ETC Eos RPU (Remote Processor Unit), which will serve as backup, and ETC’s Net3 Gateways, which run eight DMX universes to support the high fixture count and data distribution required for the show. The desk also utilizes a wireless Ethernet network hub for remote control.

At issue: a disagreement between the venue and IATSE Local 1 on whether an educational wing at Carnegie Hall, to be opened next year, would be employing the union’s workers.
