First Entertainment Innovation Conference Draws Close to 400 Attendees

WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The first North American Entertainment Innovation Conference drew nearly 400 professionals and students Sept. 6-8 to the University of North Carolina School of the Arts here to experience the latest with hands-on sessions and insider workshops. Presentations ranged from computer-controlled stunts with ZFX Flying Effects to the inside story on Broadway show production with Ken Davenport of Davenport Theatrical Enterprises.

UEP Announces Specialist Sales Division

BUCKINGHAMSHIRE, UK – Live event technical solutions provider Universal Event Productions (UEP) has formed a new specialist Sales Division as part of the planned expansion of its business. TRENTON, NJ – Starlite Productions, in coordination with design consultants Schuler Shook and electrical contractors A.C. Scott, upgraded the theatrical lighting and rigging for The Lawrenceville School located just north of Trenton, NJ. The new power and control systems installed are an example of the hybrid systems that are becoming more prevalent in today’s production lighting.  The theater staff still relies heavily on traditional dimming, but is now also able to bring LEDs, moving lights, and other effects units seamlessly into their productions.

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa – Rental company AV Unlimited supplied full technical production to show producers VWV for the finale of the recent Red Bull Beat Battle competition at the downtown live music venue Bassline. AV Unlimited’s technical production manager and LD Victor Vermaak explains that initially the venue would not let them fly any lights off of their roof beams, but with the low weight (4.4 kgs) of the Robe LEDBeam 100, they gave the go-ahead for the fixtures to be installed.
