I just spent a month doing benefit gigs all over the country. A musician decided to devote some time and talent to raising money for various charities in a dozen towns, and he asked me to light him. The majority of the gigs were in theaters and clubs that had some in-house lighting of their own. In order to raise more money for the needy, I decided to try and do these shows with almost no additional lighting, despite the fact that the artist was used to sold out arenas with big rigs.

Mid-America Sound Corp., Indiana State Fair Commission and IATSE Local 30 Fined by State OSHA

INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (IOSHA), which had conducted an investigation into possible workplace violations associated with the collapse of the main stage at the Indiana State Fair on Aug. 13, 2011, issued a report and levied more than $80,000 in fines against the staging company, the stagehand’s union and the state fair commission.

Messe Frankfurt Organizes Light India 2012

FRANKFURT, Germany – Trade fair organizer Messe Frankfurt is partnering with the Electric Lamps & Components Manufacturers’ Association of India (ELCOMA) for the 2012 edition of Light India. The first trade show will be held Oct. 5-8 at Pragati Madian in New Delhi, India. A wide range of lighting manufacturers are encourage to participate, with the audience including private and government buyers.

A Walk in the Park for PR Lighting

DOHA, Qatar – More than 100 fixtures from PR Lighting were deployed recently at the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) Park Inauguration in Doha. Alexandre Lebrun designed and directed the lighting. Technical production company TechnoPro provided the Litec Alusfera Dome Structure while PR Lighting provided the lighting equipment.

USITT Honors 2012 Architecture Award Winners
