On this night, he was in charge of a separate benefit concert that he conceptualized and organized to benefit Vermont’s Wilmington Memorial Hall, damaged in the floods of Tropical Storm Irene last August.

My wife was concerned that our three-year-old wants to spend all his time with the iPad. Then I mentioned that someone told me the first word spoken by his 18-month-old daughter most mornings is “iPad.” I don’t know right from wrong when it comes to kids and mobile devices. But I do know that if we are playing with a toy and I get an important business call, I can hand my child the iPad and he will stop whining immediately.

Daktronics Control Pendant

Daktronics’ new maintenance and limit-testing pendant, which works with the company’s Pro Series control system, responds to user requests for a convenient way to prove during commissioning that hoists stop in the correct position. The handheld pendant verifies that there are fewer than six inches between the normal hard struck limit switch and the hard ultimate overtravel limit switch, according to rigging operations manager Dave Rossi, who calls this “a huge advantage during commissioning.” The pendant will be featured at Daktronics’ USITT booth #770.

VMB TL-A150, TL-A300 Line Array Lifts

The VMB TL-A150 lifts 150kg (331 lbs.)  to a height of 5.3m (17.4 ft.) while the TL-A300 lifts 300kg (662 lbs.) to a height of 5.8m (19 ft.). Both lifts maintain compact features and the ALS (Auto Lock Security) system, a safety feature which automatically locks the lift masts as they rise. The two new lifts also have the new built-in feature, the SRS (Sequence Retainer System), which means that the sections of the lift rise and descend in sequence, one after the other.
