Glastonbury Festival No Sweat for Chauvet Fixtures

PILTON, UK – The 2019 Glastonbury Festival, staged near Pilton, U.K. from June 26-30, was one of the hottest in the event’s 36-year run. To keep any additional heat off the stages for the sweltering performers, Chauvet fixtures did their part; with LED light sources, they kept the stages well-lit, yet cool. The company’s fixtures were used on the Pyramid Stage, where Tim Routledge used the COLORado Solo Batten for headliner Stormzy, to the Flying Bus Stage and Greenpeace Field to the jam-packed Acoustic Stage.

In Memoriam: Gary “Frog” Justesen, 69

SALT LAKE CITY – Gary “Frog” Justesen, founder and owner of Oasis Stage Werks, a theatrical lighting, staging, and rigging company based in Salt Lake City, passed away July 2. Justesen, who founded his company in 1977, was also one of the founding members of the Theatrical Dealers Association, which later became ESTA, and he was a staunch supporter of ESTA’s Standards, Certification, and Safety programs.

Ferrugem’s DVD Shoot in Brazil Lit with 450 Robe Moving Lights

RIO de JANEIRO – Brazilian singer-songwriter Samba Ferrugem, known for his distinctive red hair that inspired the Ferrugem (“Rust”) nickname, which he then adopted as a stage name, recorded a live concert DVD in Rio’s Jeunesse Arena. This spectacle, directed by Anselmo Trancoso, made use of 450 Robe moving light fixtures specified by director of photography Carlinhos “Carlos” Nogueira.
