KORTRIJK, Belgium — Barco NV has acquired all shares of Medialon Inc., according to a joint letter to Medialon customers from both George Stromeyer at Barco and Alex Carru at Medialon. The announcement follows several other big M&A deals among companies in the AV technology sector recently, including H.I.G. Capital’s acquisition of AVI-SPL, Diversified Systems’ acquisitions of Technical Innovation and The Systems Group and Mitel’s acquistion of Polycom.

BIRMINGHAM, UK – The 2016 Bhangra Showdown (TBS) event produced by Kudos AV and the Imperial College Punjabi Society is a major Bhangra dance competition. This year the event moved to Birmingham’s Barclaycard Arena. The event featured an impressive lighting design created by Tom Grant and Nathan Wan, which used 80 Robe moving lights at its core – 16x BMFL Wash XFs, 18x MMX Spots, 24x LEDWash 600s and 12xPointes.

ADJ’s Stinger II builds on its predecessor, combining an upgraded UV LED strobe feature with red/green laser beams. The Stinger II’s features list starts with six 5W hex-color (RGBA + White + Pink) LEDs. Next is the 30mW red/green laser. Then there’s the circle of eight atmosphere-enhancing UV 3W LEDs, replaces the original Stinger’s white LEDs. Along with strobe effects, these can be used for UV washes and color-embellishment. MOSCOW — Harman’s Martin fixtures illuminated the 5th International Circle of Light festival in Moscow for nine days last fall. Several architectural landmarks of the capital city were used in a variety of multimedia and lighting installations aimed at transforming urban spaces into canvases for innovative works of art. Russian company LBL developed the concept of the festival, and the team collaborated with designers from gst.moscow to deploy a range of modern lighting solutions, including Martin fixtures, in order to implement their creative ideas.

LAS VEGAS – Red Rock Resort in Las Vegas celebrated its 10th anniversary on April 23, 2016 with a fireworks and lighting show featuring Syncrolite XL Xenon searchlights that filled the sky over the resort in an eight-minute choreographed lighting, fireworks and audio display. The 45 XL’s were placed in three groups of 15 fixtures around the resort creating a huge stage for the aerial art. Veteran crew chief TJ Benton along with Travis Slater and Travis Braudaway were on hand to set-up and execute a flawless light show. Syncrolite coordinated the performance with Fireworks by Grucci who designed and produced the show, one of the largest fireworks display ever hosted by a single venue in Las Vegas.
