DALLAS – For the National Cheerleading Association All-Star National Championship, held Feb. 19-21 at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center, Dallas-based Gemini Light, Sound & Video supplied lighting and video gear. For the event’s large upstage LED screen, Gemini supplied 448 Elation EPT6IP LED video panels. The 6.7mm pixel pitch LED screen measured  58.8 by 33.6 feet, WxH. The event was also televised nationally on the CBS Sports Network.

LUOYANG, China – Luoyang city, China’s former imperial capital during the Sui (589-618 AD) and Tang dynasties (618-907 AD), is now a major tourist destination, with the Sui and Tang Luoyang City National Heritage Park near its center. Along with full-scale replicas of the Ming Tang and Tian Tang towers, the park features a table model to provide a miniature 3D look at the old city’s layout. Christie GS Series laser phosphor projectors are used for backdrop projections to give the tabletop city a life-like feel.

Altman PHX 150 LED Profile Spot

Altman Lighting’s PHX 150 is a 150W LED profile spot fixture designed for long throw theatrical, architectural, house of worship and film/TV applications. Altman says its PHX 150 is the first long throw LED profile spot available to be completely convection cooled, making it well suited for acoustically sensitive applications. The PHX 150 LED profile spot is available in 3000K white, RGBA, RGBW, 5600k white and tunable white array options for maximum design flexibility. The 150W promises to serve as an energy-efficient alternative to standard 575W incandescent source fixtures seamlessly, with no bench focusing required. Phoenix LED is available in various lens options including 5°, 10°, 19°, 26°, 36° and 50° with a 19°, 26°, 36° or 50° lens barrel included at no extra charge. Also sold as standard – a C-clamp, safety cable and color frame. Zoom options of 15-35° and 30-55° are also available. Like its incandescent counterpart, the Altman PHX 150 LED profile spot features locking shutters, a fully enclosed accessory holder and a 360° rotating barrel for those difficult to achieve focus angles.

LOS ANGELES – For the refurbished lighting system within Alfred Newman Recital Hall on the USC campus, 4Wall installed 15 Chauvet Professional Ovation H-105WW LED fixtures. The fixtures were positioned in three straight rows of five units each in the black spaces between the three prominent white mason beams that run across the width of the audience area ceiling.

SYDNEY – Sir Elton John’s “All the Hits” world tour traveled with a video setup that included Blackmagic Design’s Micro Studio Camera 4K (pictured here) and Video Assist. They were used for live video feeds and video introductions. Blackmagic Design Teranex Mini, UltraStudio Express and DaVinci Resolve Studio were also used for concert production on the tour, which wrapped up late last year in Sydney, Australia.

SALT LAKE CITY  – On the show floor at USITT, A.C.T Lighting made their first “Pledge-a-Product” donation to Behind the Scenes, reflecting proceeds from the sale of the dot2 Series of Lighting Control Solutions from MA Lighting. Brian Dowd, Vice President of Sales for A.C.T Lighting, presented a check for $5,000 to members of the Behind the Scenes Foundation Board of Directors.
