LD Jip Nipius Lights Suede with Avolites Tiger Touch II for Control

LONDON – Lighting designer Jip Nipius controlled the lighting for a special ‘cinematic’ two-part show by English rockers Suede at London’s Roundhouse in November using an Avolites Tiger Touch II for the first time. Nipius has been working with Suede since the late 1990s and was asked to create a lighting design to complement the band’s ‘experiential’ new shows, which were performed to launch a brand new concept album and short film.

PHOENIX – Chris Hammond, LD and programmer for Seacret Ignite, a corporate event staged at the Phoenix Convention Center on Sept. 17, worked with gear provided by 4Wall. Hammond used Martin MAC Viper DX Wash as the main stage wash fixture along with MAC Auras for back lighting and general color for beams and Viper Performances to texturize the set. To wash the set from ground up he used Chroma Q Color Force LEDs. Clay Paky Sharpys added impact as well.

USITT Writes Letter of Thanks in Response to NY Times for Listing Full Theatrical Credits

NEW YORK – In recognition of a decision at the The New York Times to restore the production credits it had removed from its theatre reviews – which had followed a loud outcry from playwrights and the theatrical design community – USITT executive director David Grindle penned an open letter expressing gratitude. The letter, prompted in part by Cecilia Friederichs of Local 829, follows.
