FORT WORTH, TX — At the USITT show here in March, Steve Terry of ETC presented a check for $20,262 to Behind the Scenes, which reflected ongoing proceeds from sales of ETC’s iRFR and aRFR (Radio Focus Remote) application for iPhone, iPod Touch and Android. The donation brings ETC’s total Behind the Scenes contributions to date to just under $170,000.

Light Art Installation for Sydney’s MLC Centre Includes D.T.S. Gear

SYDNEY — Australian artist Mathew Johnson used D.T.S. gear for a light art installation heralding the refurbishment of the MLC Centre here. D.T.S. Australia provided the gear, which includes Delta 8 B, FOS Power bars, Titan Plus and Dive 9R units. The fixtures were permanently installed to light the ‘Drum’ Tower, and temporarily provided to light the scaffolding as well. The lighting installation can be seen from evening through midnight, 365 days a year.

BLACKBURN, U.K. — HSL, based here, provided 30 Clay Paky Sharpys and 30 Jarag lighting fixtures to LD Tom Kinane for the new BBC quiz show series, The Link. The first 25 episodes were recorded in Studio A at BBC Scotland in Glasgow and produced by STV Productions. Presented by Mark Williams (of Harry Potter fame) and directed by Julian Smith, it will air on BBC1 during a primetime 5-6 p.m. slot.

Chaman Lal, Modern Stage Service provided gear to support a a multi-media light, sound and dance drama that followed the awards presentation. The rig included D.T.S. Christie Supports Lollipop Theater Network Fundraiser

BURBANK, CA — Christie created an outdoor movie theater of sorts for a fundraiser staged by the Lollipop Theater Network on behalf of children fighting chronic illnesses or life threatening diseases. The fundraising event, “A Night Under the Stars,” was set for April 26 at the Nickelodeon Animation Studio lot here. Along with members of its managed services team, who assisted with the event, Christie provided its CP4220 projector for the screening of the animated film, Rio 2.

New Gear Lights Stars in the Desert at Coachella 2014

INDIO, CA – The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, staged here over two weekends April 11-13 and April 18-20, featured headliners Muse, Arcade Fire and more than 180 other acts. In the third year of its double-weekend format, Coachella has not only proven to be a success on the balance sheet — tickets for 2014 sold out within three hours — the festival continues to offer 90,000 daily visitors fresh music along with the element of surprise. It’s also become an early-season proving ground of sorts for a variety of lighting fixtures.
