Dataton Provides Haunting Projection at Muncaster Castle
MUNCASTER, UK – Muncaster Castle has a reputation as one of the most haunted buildings in the UK. For their busiest Halloween ever, the castle has upgraded to version 5 of Dataton’s Watchout to ensure that the multimedia experience it offers is as compelling – and as scary – as it has ever been. Mirage Associates has supported the castle, advising on content and system setup. “The projectors are in custom-made, weather-proof housings, and there is one computer for each tower of the Castle,” explains Steve Selwyn of Mirage. “Each show is on a 20-minute loop, synchronized with audio and lighting, and is shown to an audience of between 200 and 600 people each evening. It is a huge enhancement to the Castle’s visitor experience.”

Jackson Browne had wanted to go more green the past few years, and as his latest tour grew from a solo acoustic act to an ensemble, the stage called for a hard-edge beam to allow musicians to disappear behind Browne.

LONDON – Haydn Cruickshank of Colour Sound Experiment (CSE) designed and supplied lighting for a showcase celebrating the birthday of Tennessee whiskey Jack Daniels at a cavern called Devil’s Arse in the Peak District, UK. One of the many challenges facing the production team was the 600-meter (656-yard) push from the truck drop through the treacherous terrain of the Castleton Village pathways and up the hill into the first cave. Access to the second cavern entailed the lighting crew crawling on their bellies along a passage less than a meter (39 ft) high with all the kit, negotiating rocks, walls and dripping water and dank odors.
