SUNRISE, FL — Chauvet has added two solid, indoor high-resolution video panels to its VIP  Series: PVP S5 and PVP S7. The panels are designed for touring and permanent indoor installations. Each high-resolution panel uses black face, tri-colored SMD LEDs for increased contrast, and the tight pixel pitch (PVP S5 at 5.2mm and PVP S7 at 7.8mm) make these video panels useful for high-resolution graphics and live-action video.

LONG MARSTON, UK – Martin Professional’s M1 lighting controller was used to control a large moving head rig on the main stage at the 2012 Global Gathering festival at England’s Long Marston Airfield in late July. Festival lighting operator André Beekmans of The Art of Light used the Martin console on Friday for top acts such as headliner Afrojack, for which he is also the LD.

Martin’s ‘Aurasome’ E3 Trade Show

LOS ANGELES – The Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) at the Los Angeles Convention Center June 5-7 had an estimated 700 Martin MAC Aura LED wash lights highlighting many of the show’s 200 booths. The fixtures most prominently lit Nintendo’s booth, which alone featured 250 MAC Auras complemented with 70 MAC 101 wash lights.

Clay Paky Lights Red Hot Chili Peppers Tour

NASHVILLE – The Red Hot Chili Peppers’ “I’m With You World Tour” features Clay Paky Sharpys and Alpha Beam 1500 luminaires from Premier Global Productions. The rock band’s tour began last fall and extends into 2013.  LD Scott Holthaus of Happy Machine specified 96 Sharpys in a full octagon grid for the band’s indoor shows, 78 for the stadium shows plus a complement of Alpha Beam 1500s for the outdoor performances.

Helene Fischer Tour Gets Staging, Automation Support from Tait

HOF, Germany — Working with Soundhouse, Tait Technologies is providing staging and automation support for Helene Fisher’s current tour, which began here Sept. 18. Tait provided the main stage, a hydraulic 12.4-meter lifting arm and three lifts controlled by Tait’s Navigator automation system. Tait project manager Matthew Hales noted that the tour serves as an example of how the company can reconfigure existing staging and automation elements to create a fresh new look without breaking a tour’s budget.

Its subsidiary, AEG Live, is the second-largest concert promoter, behind Live Nation. AEG also produces music festivals including Coachella, and its sports franchises include the Los Angeles Kings.

White Light Installs New Dimmers for London’s Lion King

LONDON – A change in the performance schedule of the musical “The Lion King” during the 2012 Olympics gave entertainment lighting specialist White Light just the window of opportunity it required to replace the entire dimming system at London’s Lyceum Theatre – without affecting a single performance of the hit show. The changeover was scheduled across four weekends, taking advantage of the long weekends made possible by the show’s Olympics-influenced schedule, which saw the show dark on Sunday, Monday and during the day Tuesday.
