NEW YORK – ARRI CSC appoints David Lamadrid as Chief Financial Officer of the equipment rental group. He will address the needs of ARRI CSC and its subsidiary Illumination Dynamics, based at ARRI CSC’s headquarters in Secaucus, NJ. Lamadrid joins ARRI CSC with more than 20 years of experience in management, finance and operations. As part of the management team restructuring, Hardwrick Johnson will become Senior Vice President of Rental. NEW YORK – Pearl Media Productions was tasked with making the Maritime Hotel stand out from the crowd in the Meatpacking District. Their solution was a 3D-mapped building projection using Hippotizer HD media servers and 360,000 lumens of projected 3D media content inspired by pop artist Keith Haring. The four-hour show featured three-minute bursts of displays, bringing the entire hotel façade to life.

Sharpys Illuminate Drake’s Club Paradise Tour

LOS ANGELES – Clay Paky Sharpys are a key part of the lighting rig for hip-hop artist Drake’s Club Paradise Tour. LD Patrick Dierson chose 60 Sharpys to form the basis of the touring rigs hung in chevron-like formations above the stage and mounted at 90-degree angles in the show’s ParaCube wall.  Dierson collaborated on the tour’s production design with creative director Willo Perron of WPA. Guy Pavelo is the touring lighting director.

AUCKLAND, New Zealand – Philips Entertainment luminaires are helping Auckland’s Museum of Transport and Technology (MOTAT) dramatically reduce its energy consumption in its most recently completed display hall. This choice of more than 190 luminaires has substantially reduced its overall lighting load from 250kW to under 20kW. The fixtures are used to sculpt and illuminate the aircraft and associated displays.

WATCHOUT Powers Projection For ‘Van Gogh Alive’ Tour

LINKOPING, Sweden – Dataton’s WATCHOUT is being used as the image-control backbone for ‘Van Gogh Alive – The Experience’ traveling exhibition. The artist’s paintings are inter-cut with full-motion video and photographs of some of the locations that inspired Van Gogh, and synced to music. Rather than edge-blending images together, the screens are placed a short distance apart from each other, some at right angles and others in parallel, to encourage visitors to move around and between the screens during the show, immersing themselves in the vibrant colors of Van Gogh’s paintings.
