LONDON – London’s Royal Opera House has replaced its aging HMI Fresnels with Robert Juliat Cin’k 326 LFV 2.5K HMI Fresnels. The Cin’ks use the same ballasts, header cables and many spare parts as the Robert Juliat D’Artagnan HMI Profiles, which the ROH already had in house, so they say this new acquisition streamlines stock control,makes maintenance easy for them and are aesthetically more pleasing when viewed from the FOH.

High Winds Force Cancellation of Some Electric Daisy Carnival Performances in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS — Day Two of the three-day Electric Daisy Carnival, held at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway from dusk to dawn June 8-10, was hampered by winds estimated at 30 mph, with gusts strong enough to kick sand into the air. The high winds had been building since about 8 pm June 9. After meeting with local safety officials, the festival organizer, Insomniac Events, announced a temporary shutdown to the event’s seven stages at about 1 am, and cancelled the event for the night by 2:45 am.

Parasol KLR Debuts at Eurovision Song Contest

BAKU, Azerbaijan – The KLR (Kinetic Light Ring) from Parasol Advanced Systems of Vancouver, BC was at the center of attention at the Eurovision Song Contest 2012. The system lets designers program moving lights so that they move along a circular truss in any configuration, at up to 60 inches per second. Stopping, starting, reversing, accelerating and moving to an operator-specified position are all controllable features.
