INDIO, CA – This year’s Coachella Music and Arts Festival event experience was enhanced by the dramatic lighting of the festival grounds, made possible with LumenRadio’s CRMX Nova wireless control, installed by Felix Lighting.  Two LumenRadio TX2 RDM transmitters controlled three DMX universes of 20 SyncroLite 7K searchlights and 260 ColorKinetics ColorBlaze fixtures.  Seventeen LumenRadio receivers were placed on remote lighting towers up to three-quarters of a mile from the control center.

LAS VEGAS – For the redesign of the lobby and entryway at Madame Tussauds in Las Vegas, LD Herrick Goldman selected the Brickblaster Pro RGBW and WWCW. The compact size of the Brickblaster Pro allowed the fixtures to fit into hidden alcoves throughout the lobby, while track mounted fixtures were used in the main hallway, which has a low ceiling height of 8 feet.

LONDON – Clay Paky’s lighting fixtures are ‘Dancing on Ice’ at Britain’s biggest arenas this spring as the hit ITV show goes on tour. LD Durham Marenghi, who has designed this show since 2008, has specified Clay Paky Alpha Spot HPE and Profile 1500s, Alpha Spot HPE 300s and Alpha Beam 700s to create a dynamic light show for each skater, while a single Sharpy lights the Winners Trophy throughout.

LAS VEGAS — Airing live on ABC shortly after the natural light show outside — a partial solar eclipse — the 2012 Billboard Music Awards, staged at the MGM Grand Arena May 20 and supported by PRG, featured design flourishes in lighting and video that animated the set and a visual circus of performances. There were also musical and silent tributes for Whitney Houston, Adam Yauch, Donna Summer and Robin Gibb.

Linkin Park Tours with Severe Weather Warning System

HOLLYWOOD, CA — In preparation for the May 18 launch of their 2012 Living Things tour, Linkin Park hired Weather Decision Technologies (WDT), a Norman, OK-based storm forecasting service with a staff of 75, to provide a color-coded weather emergency plan along with on-site weather experts for outdoor shows.
