ROE Visual and disguise Join Forces to Open xR STAGE TOKYO

ROE Visual and disguise announce the opening of their xR STAGE TOKYO—a virtual production showroom, powered by ROE Visual and disguise. Located at ROE Visual Japan’s premises in Hatchobori, xR STAGE TOKYO offers visitors the opportunity to get an up-close experience with virtual production technology and in-camera VFX within an LED volume.

In-camera VFX is a technique that uses real-time compositing of CG backgrounds on an LED wall. The method is currently used in films, TV commercials, and music videos and is now expanding to live streaming and corporate online presentations. Virtual Production workflows are made possible by disguise’s award-winning extended reality (xR) technology. disguise’s xR workflow is already powering LED stages in over 300 locations in over 45 countries, many of which are made up of ROE Visual LED panels.

Due to disguise’s reliable and seamless xR workflow, coupled with the quality of LED offered by ROE Visual, this technology is used worldwide and is an integral part of hundreds of productions. See this technology in action in ROE Visual’s showreel:

ChamSys Helps Crt Birsa Balance Demands Lighting Popevka Song Competition

There is an almost mystical power to idioms. Like some secret shared within a tightly knit circle of friends, these impossible-to-translate words and phrases endow a language with its distinct character – one that only those immersed in its culture can fully appreciate. “Popevka,” is such a word in Slovenian. A form of music interwoven tightly around this nation’s folk traditions; its deepest meaning evaporates once it’s decoupled from its cultural roots. Lighting Designer, Crt Birsa can’t translate the power of Popevka into words, but he did a brilliant job conveying it in light recently when he lit a TV program of that name using his ChamSys MagicQ MQ80 and a PC Wing, despite having to balance time and deadline issues.Read More »ChamSys Helps Crt Birsa Balance Demands Lighting Popevka Song Competition

For TV Lighting, Edging Away from 3,200K

For the annual NFL Honors, broadcast from YouTube Theater at SoFi Stadium on Feb. 10, PLSN’s Michael Eddy asked LD Jon Kusner about balancing the lighting with the video screens. “It’s now getting easier and easier to get away from 3,200K, which was always not ideal for the screens department,” Kusner noted. “Being in the color space closer to 5,600K makes the screens look better. We were at 4,200K, that was our white light on this show. I like being at 4,200K because the color spectrum of reds and blues, from a lighting perspective, land pretty well there if you go either direction.”
