“Walking the Chains” Debuts in Bristol, U.K. with Fineline Support

BRISTOL, U.K. – Bristol based lighting, visuals and rigging specialist Fineline supplied lighting and rigging to support the world premiere of Walking The Chains, a  circus/theatre production staged in the Passenger Shed at Bristol Temple Meads rail station. The production marks 150 years since the completion of the Clifton Bridge, a historic suspension bridge credited to U.K. civil and mechanical engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel.

BroadWeigh Wireless Load Monitoring System Gaining Popularity in Australia

SYDNEY – With an assist from The Rigging Shop, based in the Sydney suburb of Botany, U.K.-based Mantracourt is seeing demand grow for the company’s BroadWeigh wireless load monitoring systems down under. The systems that are now being used for a number of concert halls, touring companies and stage shows in Australia. The load-monitoring system detects force and helps avoid overloads.

Creative Backstage Now Offering Absen Video Screens

PHOENIX – Creative BackStage recently added Absen A6t 6.25mm LED video screen to its inventory of gear. The screens were first deployed at the annual Alice Cooper Christmas Pudding concert in December 2014, pictured here. Since then, the new 6mm LED screen product has been used at Circle K New Year’s Eve Block Party in Tempe, AZ, pictured below. They were also deployed at Birds Nest at the Phoenix Open in Scottsdale, AZ and at a few private fund raiser events.

Eurolite Fixtures from Steinigke Showtechnic Combine LEDs and Lasers

Steinigke Showtechnic is planning to debut three Eurolite fixtures this year that combine LEDs and laser effects. They include the Eurolite KLS, where two derby effects, four strobes and two slim spots share an LED bar with a laser; the FE-1500 Hybrid Laser Flower, with 8 strobe LEDs and a laser; and the LED Laser Bar, with a red/green laser effect included in the center of the bar along with 190 color-changing LEDs. All three effects can be controlled by DMX.

Hartmut Kulessa, marketing manager of Projection Products for Panasonic Europe, arranged for Ashton and The Projection Studio to support the booth visuals.

NASHVILLE, TN – The Winter Jam Tour Spectacular hit the road for their 2015 leg with Christian music from Skillet, Jeremy Camp, Francesca Battistelli, Building 429, Family Force, Newsong, For King & Country, Blanca, About a Mile, Veridia and speaker Tony Nolan. Bandit Lites provided gear including Clay Paky B Eye K 20 wash lights, Martin Vipers, Vari-Lite VL 3500 washes, Clay Paky Sharpys, Martin Atomic 3000 Strobes, 4 lite inline moles, Color Force 72 wash lights. The visuals setup included 60 foot black A type circle truss divided into 3 sections all lined with 12 mil LED product.

LD James Schipper Uses Nexus Panels for Flo Rida, DJ Blaze at Women’s World Cup Soccer Event

SANTA MONICA, CA – The Women’s World Cup Kickoff Celebration, featured on Fox Sports 1 and Timer Warner Cable, included performances by Flo Rida and DJ Blaze. LD James Schipper of Kinetic Lighting created a dynamic stage backdrop for the performances with 40 Nexus 4×4 panels from Chauvet Professional. The event, held at Hangar 8 at Santa Monica Airport in early Dec. 2014, also featured a 22 projector video mapping projection from Sweetwater Video and Bart Kresa Design to bring attention to FIFA soccer matches in 2015.

USITT Announces 2015 Young Designers & Technicians Awards Winners

SYRACUSE, NY – Eleven promising young theatre artists will receive 2015 USITT Awards for Young Designers & Technicians in the Performing Arts – the YD&T awards — at USITT 2015 in Cincinnati. The show runs from March 18-21 at Cincinnati’s Duke Energy Convention Center. The awards will be presented March 19.
