Ryan Adams has returned to the road to support his new self-titled album. LD Brett Lorins is working with the artist, starting with a few one-off shows with his band, The Shining. The fall tour kicks off Sept. 8 in Washington, DC, taking in U.K. and Canadian dates along with U.S. tour stops until Nov. 19. Among Adams’ one-offs was a performance Aug. 13 on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Sunset Music Festival in Australia Uses Nexus 4×4 Panels

ARMIDALE, Australia – For Sunset Music Festival, an EDM music festival held at the Armidale Showgrounds here, Sydney-based Showtime Promotions and Productions provided 12 Nexus 4×4 panels from Chauvet Professional. “We hung the panels on tiered trussing, which worked very well with the curved roof structure of Showtime’s stage to create an intense focus of light.” said Showtime’s Adriano Mercurio.

WILLEBROEK, Belgium — AED Rent, based here, provided LD Luc Peumans with fixtures to support the latest tour for Belgian/Dutch rock band Clouseau’s latest tour. Peumans met the challenge of creating a “large looking” show with fewer lighting fixtures with an assortment of gear that included a dozen of Clay Paky’s A.leda B-EYE K20s.” They inspired a lot of looks for this show,” he noted.

LMG Touring Supports Childish Gambino’s Web of Visuals

LMG Touring provided lighting and video gear for Donald Glover, a.k.a. Childish Gambino, who has been touring in support of his second album, Because the Internet, released last December. Along with a full lighting rig, LMG provided Barco 18K Projectors and AI Media Servers. The video gear supported custom content created by Moment Factory. The different projection surfaces included a back screen, two columns, front scrim or Kabuki, riser surfaces, and stage props.  The tour provided the audience with animated sequences that took them on a ride through the Internet.

HSL Lights Massive Attack Tour of Europe

BLACKBURN, U.K. – Lighting and visuals specialist HSL, based here, supplied a floor package for the European leg of Massive Attack’s summer tour. LD Tim Oliver’s overall visual design included having lights in front of and behind the screens, and the rig was also designed to be easy to rig, break down and transport between festival gigs. As with previous Massive Attack shows, back-lighting played a key role in retaining a sense of visual mystery and magic.

GLP Spot One Lights Up MBC’s New HQ in Seoul’s Digital Media City

SEOUL – Highlighting its new headquarters in Seoul’s new Digital Media City, Korean TV network broadcaster MBC is using eight impression Spot Ones from GLP to light the building’s exterior. The eight impression Spot Ones are mounted in locally sourced domes to protect them from the extreme weather conditions as they throw their high output beams over a distance of 20 to 30 meters.

LD Thomas Gerdon Includes GLP’s New X4 XL at Nature One Festival

KASTELLAUN, Germany – The Nature One music festival, which took place here July 31-Aug. 2, drew some 72,000 visitors with a roster of 300 international DJs and EDM acts. The event gave LD Thomas Gerdon the chance to use GLP’s new large-format impression X4 XL for the first time. Gerdon already had 64 impression X4 heads incorporated into the stage design but managed to work in 12 additional X4 XL fixtures.

Fineline Provides Lighting and Video Support for Eden Sessions in Cornwall, U.K.

CORNWALL, U.K. – Fineline supplied lighting, LED screen, rigging and crew to the 2014 Eden Sessions, a diverse series of music performances staged at the Eden Project, based here. The sessions ran over a 5+ week period and featured a line up including Skrillex, Dizzee Rascal, Katy B, Ellie Goulding, Elbow, The Pixies and others. For the second year, Fineline worked closely with Andy Cotton of TAO Productions, who production managed the events and coordinated all technical aspects.
