NEW YORK — The Rolling Stones postponed seven shows in Australia and New Zealand and flew back to New York after the sudden death of L’Wren Scott, Mick Jagger’s longtime girlfriend, on March 17. The shows had been set to run from March 19 to April 5. The band’s 2014 “14 on Fire” tour, a follow-up to 2013’s “50 and Counting,” pictured here, began in late February with shows in the Middle East and Asia. The tour is set to resume in Europe in late May.

CLEVELAND, OH — The Cleveland Cavaliers honored the career of former player Zydrunas “The Z” Ilgauskas, retiring his #11 during a March 8, 2014 ceremony at the Quicken Loans Arena here. Quince Imaging worked with the Cavs’ QTV team and Think Media. The project involved mapped projections and a 3600×1878 pixel space using 16 HD projectors. The creative team used Pandoras Box v5.5 and the latest version of Warper. Fans could live-tweet comments to two 16-by-28-foot projection screens hanging high atop the arena.

Staging Concepts Helps Turn Cowboys Stadium Into Basketball Arena
ARLINGTON, TX – Staging Concepts is working with the Colonnade Group entertainment and sports production company to get Cowboys Stadium (now called AT&T Stadium) ready for the 70,000 attending the 2014 NCAA basketball semifinals and championship April 5 and April 7. Crews will bring in more than 6,000 staging platforms spanning more than 106,000 square feet. The transformation, starting March 20, will take about 10 days to complete.

Ellie Goulding UK Arena Tour Gets XL Video Support
LONDON – For a recent tour of U.K. arenas, LDs Cate Carter and Pablo Beckett of Bryte Design expanded their video-centered set design to include some of XL Video’s newer LED products – the Radiant MC-18 Hybrid, Radiant MC-7T, Radiant MC-18T and Pixled F-12 screens. XL Video also supplied cameras, a Catalyst media server for playback and PPU and crew for the tour, which brought Goulding’s ongoing Halcyon Days trek from the earlier theatre-sized production to a larger version for arena-sized venues.
