Ontario Ministry of Labor Issues New Safety Guidelines for Event Structures

TORONTO — The Ontario Ministry of Labor issued new guidelines on the safe use of event structures for live performances on June 19. They include recommendations for appropriate structural design and materials, correct positioning on the site, ground conditions and foundations, proper planning and control of work practices, ongoing inspection of the finished structure during use and the development of an Operations Management Plan (OMP) that includes weather monitoring and emergency procedures.

LONDON – Lighting and visuals rental company Colour Sound Experiment has invested £350,000 in the latest Robe moving lights to increase its stock and service its busy work schedule. Forty LEDWash 600s, 40 LEDWash 300s and 35 MMX Spots, all from Robe’s Robin range, have joined Colour Sound’s rental inventory, which now features more than 250 Robe moving heads, as well as a few hundred more from other brands.

ORLANDO – Pearl Media Productions (PMP), a producer of immersive experiences, and Vivitek Corporation, a manufacturer of visual presentation products, collaborated with artist James Peterson to create a 3-D projection of an aquatic creature, which was featured at InfoComm 2013. Titled Aqua Illuminata, this 3-D art installation projection showcased the versatility and clarity of Vivitek’s projectors, while at the same time demonstrating PMP’s 3D projection expertise.

Bandit Lights Bonnaroo for 12th Year

MANCHESTER, TN –  Bandit Lites was more than ready when more than 80,000 music fans poured into the 700 acre site known as “The Farm” for the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival, an event Rolling Stone magazine has referred to as one of the “50 Events that Changed Rock and Roll.”  The four-day music festival offers more than 150 acts on many stages. Plugfest Returns, RDMnet Draft Expected to Debut

WESTLAKE, TX – The PLASA Control Protocols Plugfest, the event where manufacturers and developers can test their products for interoperability with other manufacturer’s products, is scheduled to take place Aug. 2-5 at the DFW Marriott Solana in Westlake, TX. LONDON — Mark Fisher, founder and managing director of Stufish, died June 25 after a long illness at Marie Curie Hospice in Hampstead, U.K. with his wife Cristina at his side. He was 66.
