Event Safety Alliance’s Event Safety Guide Available for Download, Review and Comment

LOS ANGELES — The first draft of the Event Safety Alliance’s Event Safety Guide — an updated version of the widely-used U.K. guide with the same name, often dubbed the “purple guide” — is available for download from the Alliance website, eventsafetyalliance.org. Subtitled  “A Guide to Health, Safety and Welfare at Live Entertainment Events in the United States,” the draft document includes a disclaimer stating that the 273-page PDF document is provided for public review only for a 180-day review and comment period (from Feb. 6, 2013 to Aug. 5, 2013).

2013 Tour Dates: Starts mid-March and includes performances in the Middle East and Eastern Europe, including Hungary, Romania, Russia and other international destinations. Yanni just finished 80 dates through the U.S. and Canada, and another extensive tour through South America in 2012. During his “off time” in 2013, Yanni was off to do a private wedding in Chennai, India. “It was for two of the richest families in India — quite the three-day extravaganza!” said production designer/LD Bud Horowitz, now preparing Yanni’s new tour.

SI 2013 Swimsuit 3D Projection

LAS VEGAS, NV – On the eve of Valentine’s Day, Sports Illustrated held an event at Caesar’s Palace Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, NV to launch their 2013 Swimsuit Edition. The main attraction of the event, the 260′ x 141′ 3D projection poolside of Caesar’s Palace. At 7pm local time, SI  model Chrissy Teigen and SI.com managing editor Matt Beanl hosted a live show powered by Lexus featuring model interviews, clips from their upcoming Travel Channel behind-the-scenes show, sit-downs with creative director Chris Hercik and senior Swim editor MJ Day.

Accident During Load-In Kills Tour Manager, Singer in U.K.

GUILDFORD, U.K. — The tour manager and one of the 10 singers for Fisherman’s Friends, a male vocal group, died from injuries caused by a falling steel loading dock door at the G Live venue here. Tour manager Paul McMullen, 44, died at the scene of the freakish accident, which occurred during the mid-day load-in for a performance Feb. 9. The show was cancelled. Singer Trevor Grills, 54, was also pinned by the heavy steel door. He was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries Feb. 11.

CHESTER, CT – Goodspeed Musicals recently debuted The Great American Mousical, a whimsical, musical comedy that celebrates life in the theatre, directed by Julie Andrews.  The production team was challenged to bring the excitement and spectacle of Broadway into a compact 200-seat venue. To accomplish this, co-lighting designers Richard Pilbrow and Michael Gottlieb brought in a new and compact lighting tool, the PLCyc LED luminaire from Philips Strand Lighting and Philips Selecon.
