Robe LEDWash 600s Illuminate New Zealand Music Awards
AUCKLAND, NZ – New Zealand LD Ben Cooper chose 24 Robe ROBIN 600 LEDWash moving light fixtures for the 2011 Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards. This was Cooper’s second year to handle the award show design, and his first time to use the LED fixtures in a major event – the first being a charity gig in a hotel ballroom. Spot-Light Systems Ltd., of which Cooper is co-owner, supplied all the lighting equipment.

MAC Rig, Martin Video Entertain at 99th Grey Cup
AARHUS, DENMARK – Nickelback performed the halftime show for this year’s Canadian Football League championship game. The Grey Cup took place Nov. 27 using a large Martin lighting and video package to accommodate the crowds at Vancouver’s BC Place Stadium. Christie Lites Vancouver supplied the moving lights, while Epic Production Technologies supplied the LC panels with P3 upgrade. Robert Sondergaard designed the lighting and production for this, one of Canada’s biggest annual sports and TV events.

Germany’s SKY Studios Shines with mo2 Design, Coolux
MUNICH, Germany – German company mo2 design GmbH was designed the complete illumination and lighting control in the studio for Germany’s first 24-hour sports network, SKY Sports News. Mo2 system integrator Thomas Mrozek says coolux’s Widget Designer is the main tool for the complete lighting control, the idea being that just about anyone would be able to easily select appropriate lighting mood without much training.

Tom Young to Depart J.R. Clancy
SYRACUSE, NY – Tom Young, VP of marking at J.R. Clancy, will leave the firm at the end of 2011 due to a health issue. Young, who has been with J.R. Clancy since 1993, helped build Clancy’s international growth and was instrumental in positioning J.R. Clancy as a leader in technological innovation. In Memoriam: Todd Morgan, 59
LOS ANGELES — Todd Morgan, one of the founders of Jan-Al Cases, died on Dec. 20, 2011 after a long illness. He was 59. Prior to joining Jan and Muffie Alejandro, Morgan had worked at Studio Instrument Rentals (where he met Jan) and at Almo/Irving, a music publishing firm. Miami’s Club Amnesia Renovates, Reopens with Chauvet
MIAMI – Club Amnesia has undergone renovations and reopened recently in South Beach with 87 Chauvet fixtures positioned inside the multilevel club and outside on architectural elements. Michael Stone of HMS, Inc., which specializes in installations within the marine industry, spent five months on the installation. LD Maxime Moussier created the lighting design for the 26,000 sq. ft. club.
