When the Chicago Cubs won the 2016 World Series, defeating the American League’s Cleveland Indians 8-7 in Game 7’s 10 innings, including a late rain delay, it marked the end of an epic era. LISLE, IL — For many in the Chicago area an annual trip to see Illumination: Tree Lights at The Morton Arboretum in Lisle has become a wintertime tradition. Now in its fourth year, the magical mile-long walk in the woods with its dramatic lighting and color-changing illumination is a whole new way to experience the Arboretum in winter. John Featherstone, principal at design group Lightswitch, is the lighting director and creative director for Illumination. This year he had the opportunity to be the first anywhere to use Elation’s new weatherproof Proteus Beam moving head fixture for the event.

Conceived and led by LeadDog, the tech installation was built around a facsimile of a digitally enhanced underground train that featured an interactive LED floor, wall mounted touch screen technology and LED lit ceilings and walls.
