Gotthard Base Tunnel’s Opening Show Lit with GLP Impression X4 Bars
SWITZERLAND – The Gotthard Base Tunnel, a milestone feat of human engineering that cost nine lives and $12+ billion over 17 years of construction, is officially open. Traversing 37.5 miles beneath the Swiss Alps, and including more than 93 miles of tube excavation for rail service between Erstfeld and Bodio, the project drew even more notice with a decidedly avant garde opening ceremony staged by Volker Hesse on June 1. The lighting design by LD Rolf Derrer made use of 140 GLP impression X4 Bars, supplied by Wohlen-based Winkler Multi Media Events.
