For Domefest Stage, LD Manny Newman Opts for Rogue Spots and Washes

BEDFORD, PA – Jam bands expect their lighting designers to be ready to punt at the drop of a hat and come up with a fresh look for a new guitar riff that just pops up in the middle of a set.  At the recent Domefest, however, funk rockers Pigeons Playing Ping Pong asked their LD Manny Newman to go a step (make that many steps!) further. The popular group, which started the annual three-day jam festival in 2010, wanted Manny to create a flexible punt-ready lightshow for an eclectic mix of over 20 bands.

Starlite Transforms School Gym Into Multi-Purpose Performance Venue

MOORESTOWN, NJ –The Baldwin School, a prestigious independent all-girls school in Bryn Mawr, PA had big plans for their outdated gymnasium space. The school enlisted the award-winning architectural firm Voith & Mactavish Architects LLP for the design this vast transformation into the The Simpson Center for the Perfoming Arts. VMA enlisted Fisher Dachs Associates for designing the Lighting, Rigging, & Curtains systems, and sought out Marshall-KMK Acoustics for the Acoustic, Audio, & Video systems for this multi-purpose performance space.

HOLLYWOOD, CA – At last month’s Cine Gear Expo Technical Awards, Chroma-Q’s new Space Force LED fixture got the nod in the Lighting Award category. The list of award-winners, which were selected by a panel of industry experts with an eye toward the latest in technology, were chosen after reviewing and evaluating nearly 100 of the newest technologies submitted and presented at this year’s Cine Gear Expo.

When the first-generation HD cameras used in its news studio became time-consuming and costly to maintain, KUSI-TV Chief Engineer Fred Swift sought replacements that would also improve the visual quality of their news productions.

U.K.’s Key Theatre Unlocks Savings with Philips Selecon RAMA LED Fresnels

PETERBOROUGH, U.K. – Key Theatre replaced its tungsten Fresnels with 36 energy-efficient Philips Selecon RAMA LED Fresnel luminaires to save on power and add functionality to the lighting system. The new fixtures were supplied and fitted by Stage Electrics, whose technical sales consultant, Andy Elsegood, recommended the RAMA LED Fresnels as a crisp, white LED solution for the theatre’s range of stage lighting requirements.

dbn Supplies Gear for Parklife 2016

MANCHESTER, U.K. – Parklife, formerly known as The Parklife Weekender, is an independent music festival held annually in Manchester. This year’s event saw 140,000 people attend the two day festival held on June 11-12. dbn Lighting were back in Heaton Park, where they supplied lighting, rigging and LED screen to five out of the eight main performance areas – including the Main Stage, Stage 3 (The Rotunda), Stage 5 (Elrow), Stage 6 (The Colonnade) and Stage 8 which was hosted by two pumping club nights MTA and MK.
