Rolling Stones’ 14 On Fire Tour Rig Includes Robe Pointes

STOCKHOLM, Sweden – LD Patrick Woodroffe included 54 Robe ROBIN Pointes in the lighting design for The Rolling Stones’ 14 On Fire tour. They were located on 12 sections of HUD truss running upstage and downstage on both sides of the massive stage. The band wrapped the European leg of their tour earlier this month with performances at Stockholm’s Tele2 Arena and the Orange Canopy Stage at the Roskilde Festival.

LONDON – Bob Brigham, president of PRG Nocturne, noted recently that one of the main factors clinching Nocturne Productions’ willingness to be acquired by PRG in mid-2011 was “our dream to expand into the UK/European markets.” That dream has become a reality, he said, with PRG Nocturne’s U.K. operation backing 2014 tours and shows for The Eagles, Katy Perry, Metallica, Skrillex, Franz Ferdinand, Bastille, Linkin Park, and The Rolling Stones. Michael Meacham Creates “Pixel Ambience” with Chauvet EPIX Fixtures at Osaka Nightclub

OSAKA, Japan – In designing the lighting for Vanity Osaka nightclub, LD Michael Meacham made creative use of wide structural columns in the center of the dance floor. He used Chauvet’s EPIX 2.0 bars and EPIX 2.0 strips along with some adroit pixel mapping to incorporate them into his design. He also built EPIX 2.0 bars into the wall behind the DJ booth, added five configurations of 32 EPIX 2.0 strips each on the ceiling and positioned EPIX 2.0 strips behind the frosted glass in the VIP area. The LD accented the EPIX lighted columns with 20 Intimidator Spot LED 350 moving fixtures from Chauvet DJ in four groups of five. Meacham’s design utilizes the motorized focus of the Intimidator Spots to project crisp gobos over the dance floor.

Kinetic Lighting Using New App to Streamline Operations

GLENDALE, CA – Kinetic Lighting, based here, has developed its own cross platform app to streamline its operations. The new software works on Windows, Mac and iOS devices and is designed to streamline rental and sales inventory management, orders, repair tickets, truck schedules, crew schedules, contacts, requisitions and purchase orders. The system emails reminders and alerts to users–for instance, a notice to the appropriate staff member when inventory levels fall below certain thresholds, or that an event crew needs to be beefed up – helping the company guard against costly oversights.

iWeiss Puts Rapid Development of Custom Lifting Winch in the Spotlight

Florida Church Using FOR-A Switcher to Meet HD Production Needs

OVIEDO, FL – First Baptist Oviedo, which now delivers its message through a variety of media including live streaming, sermon archiving, podcasts, and its weekly shows on local television, acquired FOR-A’s HVS-390HS video switcher earlier this year to meet its growing production needs. Josh Felix, the church’s director of technical arts, credited the switcher’s built-in color corrector on four channels and built-in scalers, which lets the crew easily scale SD images to HD.

Standard Relating to ACN Interoperability Posted for Public Review

NEW YORK – An industry draft standard relating to ACN interoperability, BSR E1.30-11, EPI 33 – ACN Root Layer Protocol Operation on TCP, has been posted for public review. BSR E1.30-11 is a Profile for Interoperability (EPI) to be used with ANSI E1.17, which is commonly called “ACN” for Architecture for Control Networks. EPIs related to ANSI E1.17 specify how conforming implementations are to operate in particular environments or situations in order to guarantee interoperability. This part of E1.30, EPI 33, is an interoperability profile that specifies the operation and formats for the ACN Root Layer Protocol operating on TCP.
