BOLOGNA, Italy — Italian rock band The Pooh recently concluded their elaborate Opera Seconda tour in Italy, Europe and beyond. Along with longtime band members Roby Facchinetti, Dodi Battaglia and Red Canzian (with Danilo Ballo on additional keyboards and Phil Mer on drums), The Pooh performed with the Ensemble Symphony Orchestra conducted by Maestro Giacomo Loprieno. SYRACUSE, NY — USITT has approved the largest number of schools ever for free stage rigging inspections and safety training in the latest round of its Rigging Safety Initiative. LONDON — For Jessie J’s Alive Tour, Creative Technology (CT) provided a video system including LED screens (more than 300 Barco MiStrips) and control (Ai Media Servers and a Panasonic 450 mixing system with a multi-viewer output). The mix of prerecorded video content and I-Mag was overseen by Paul Caslin and Steve Price. The Jessie J Alive Tour completed its U.K. leg in November and takes off to America in the New Year for a three-month tour.

PLASA Updates Standards, Changing “ESTA” References to “PLASA”

NEW YORK — PLASA announced that it has posted standards up for reaffirmation for public review on the association’s website, through Feb. 3, 2014. The standards pertain to theatrical fog, control cables, protocols and floor slip hazards. No changes are planned, except for the switch from “ESTA” references to “PLASA,” but the association is using those planned changes as an opportunity for the public to comment on any further changes that might be needed.
