SmarterShows Postpones Event Live Expo 2014

NASHVILLE — James Reader, CEO of SmarterShows, posted an announcement on Event Live Expo’s website, eventlive-expo.com, noting that the 2014 event, which had been set for Feb. 18-20 here, would need to been postponed. No future date has been announced.

Vectorworks Release V2.5 of Their Mobile App – Vectorworks Nomad

Nemetschek Vectorworks has released an updated to their Cloud Services mobile app, Vectorworks Nomad, Version 2.5.  The update includes integration with popular third-party cloud storage provider, Dropbox. Additionally, Vectorworks Cloud Service can now process Vectorworks files, VWX and process then into PDF format for easy viewing on portable devices and sharing. The app is available for iOS, Android and Kindle.

XL Video Supports Unity Memorial Concert for Hate Crime Victim in U.K.

LONDON – Unity – A Concert for Stephen Lawrence, staged at the O2 Arena to mark the 20th anniversary of the teen’s death in what has been deemed to be a racially motivated hate crime, featured performances by Rita Ora, Jessie J, Emeli Sande, Beverley Knight,  Tinie Tempah and Plan B, among others.  Hosted by Nick Grimshaw and Reggie Yates, the event was produced by AEG Live and featured video support from XL Video.

First Date: An Inside Out Approach to Musical Design

The new musical, First Date, offers a peppy pop spin on the awkward blind date that many of us have endured. Aaron (Zachary Levi) is a finance man with foot-in-mouth tendencies, and Casey (Krysta Rodriguez) is an artsy, edgy girl with a toxic sense of humor. As they trade quips, barbs and awkward pauses, they learn to understand each other and open up about their mixed pasts. Mirroring the show’s approach, media/scenic designer David Gallo sought to subvert traditional Broadway notions while working around them.

Harman Announces Completion of Integration of Martin Lighting in the U.S.

NORTHRIDGE, CA — Harman, which recently named Brian Friborg to lead U.S. sales, also announced that its integration of Martin Lighting in the U.S. has been completed. The company is closing the Martin office in Sunrise, FL but will maintain a sales and product support presence in the Fort Lauderdale area, led by Friborg. All staff from the closed Sunrise, FL facility have been offered positions within the Harman Professional organization.
