HOOD RIVER, OR — The History Museum of Hood River County recently opened a gallery devoted to Luhr Jensen & Sons, the manufacturer of fishing gear that operated in the vicinity for nearly 75 years before it was acquired by Finland-based Rapala VMC Corp. in 2005. Media Matrix Productions used gear from Alcorn McBride to lure visitors with motion sensor-launched video presentations.

MANCHESTER, U.K. — Lighting design and rental specialists dbn, based here, provided lighting for the Weekending at the Whitworth Art Gallery event, held Aug. 30, 31 and Sept. 1. Drawing visitors with art, live music and other performances in Manchester’s Whitworth Park and Gallery, the public got the chance to view the final days of the Whitworth Art Gallery before the building closed for a £18 million refurbishment.

LD Clifton Taylor Lights “A Dancer’s Dream” for the New York Philharmonic
NEW YORK — LD Clifton Taylor lit the New York Philharmonic’s A Dancer’s Dream: Two Works by Stravinsky with a lighting rig that included Showline SL BAR 640, Philips Selecon PLCyc LED, Philips Vari-Lite VL3500 Spot, VL1000 ERS and VL5B Wash luminaires from Philips Entertainment Lighting. The production combined two of Igor Stravinsky’s ballet scores, “The Fairy’s Kiss” and “Petrushka,” into one production.

ZURICH, Switzerland — Drawing close to 950,000 people, the Zurich Street Parade 2013 featured nearly 200 DJs performing on 30 trucks and eight large-scale stages. Along with such headliners as Bob Sinclar, Westbam, Nicky Romero and NERVO, the event featured Laserworld AG’s laser shows from three stages. Laserworld used Wireless Solution Sweden’s W-DMX for its peripheral systems including smoke and haze machines.
