TRING, UK – The first music festival to be promoted by an industry technical production company – Chilfest by Universal Event Productions (UEP) – was declared a success. UEP’s Steve Butcher – who came up with the idea to celebrate the company’s 15th birthday – was “completely blown away” with the response and the outcome. They supplied sound, lighting and video equipment and design for the two-day show.

LAS VEGAS – The Neon Museum, founded in 1996, displays neon sign relics of the city’s past in an outdoor exhibition space known as the “Neon Boneyard.” Tourists and locals alike have long been able to visit the downtown exhibit, albeit during the day. That changed this spring when the 4Wall Systems team added lighting to the signs to transform the Boneyard into a space fitting of its Vegas nightlife heritage.

LONDON – London rental company Entec Sound & Light supplied a ‘specials’ package to LD Tony Austin for the latest tour by Portishead, which followed up on shows earlier in the year by the Bristol band. This most recent series of gigs culminated with their Friday night headline slot on The Other Stage at the 2013 Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts, a performance preceded by warm-up shows in Scandinavia and The Netherlands.

DALLAS – Onstage Systems led a projection mapping project recently at the nationally-recognized $185 million Perot Museum of Nature and Science in Dallas for a social event. The June 8 celebration marked a founding member’s birthday – and the first event held outdoors on the main patio at the new facility. The Dallas-based concert and special events production company provided lighting and sound design, with a nature-themed projection mapping and animation as the event highlight.

LOS ANGELES – Lighting distributor A.C.T Lighting has announced that Chris Patton has joined the company’s sales team, and will concentrate in permanent installations and system sales. Most recently, Patton worked at Global Design Solutions (GDS).
